I noticed I am getting very extreme in my post editing. I'll change what I said about 3 times before i'm satisfied with what thoughts i put down. i think I'll slow down how quickly I push the "post" button to give me a sec to rally my thoughts but I was wondering how much do you edit? And why? I find that on other forums it can make others look weird when they quote immediately after I first post and they have something I said that isn't there anymore. Or am I the only one who thinks about this at all?

I edit when I make mistakes, or quickly come up with another point.

If I make a spelling or factual error, neither of which are very common. (Ironically I just spelled neither wrong three times before even posting this, but that's tiredness.)

I retype all most everything I put once.
Then I look it over for spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes and punctuation mistakes.

I wasn't like this when I joined but I'm almost obsessed with it now. Which is only a good thing, I suppose.

Usually I only edit typos, and I reckon that's pretty acceptable. But editing a post after someone's quoted you is a big no-no.

I rarely edit, but I do proof-read heavily. Also, I like to mention "edit: whatever" when I do, otherwise it feels dishonest somehow.

I tend to edit if I make mistakes, or if I want to add something I forgot at the time I was typing the original post. Other than that, I don't change the overall content or meaning of my posts. I mean, sure you can take back stuff you've said, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a discussion if you can retract every statement you make. You may as well get used to thinking BEFORE you open your yap/ click post.

On one of three occasions:

1) I've made a major error, either typographical or factual (or, most likely, the latter as a result of the former).

2) I thought of something else and it'd be bad form to double-post.

3) Someone posted something germane while I was crafting my original post and I edit it to reflect the new condition of the thread.

If i see a typo, Or when im too eager to post and press it too early, Or if i forget to add a point.

I tend to have to edit things every 4 or 5 posts.

I frequently edit to fix even the minor spelling mistakes. Like leaving an I uncapitalized.

Or sometimes I go the WanderFreak method.

I never edit, I'm psychic so I can predict the name of the next person who'll reply after me.

That person is Neonbob

I edit whenever I see something wrong.
Which is usually rare, as I proofread my posts extensively.
[sup][sup]soooo tempted to make a bad joke there.[/sup][/sup]
Even in the games I play, I usually go back and edit my post if I'm ninja'd.

I will normally edit if I forget to add something that I wanted to contribute to the post. Or edit if I want to keep the conversation small instead of being a row of quote blocks.

However regardless of the edit I always leave and edit note at the very bottom and make my additions there.
That is a great idea, Tenmar! I used to do that or put the edit in bold anywhere I pleased on other forums but I've gotten lazy.

Mostly when I realise I've said something offensive, or when I've made a blatant error.
