How often do you edit?

I typically edit when I make a mistake that I feel will lower my credibility in an argument, not that I get into many of those around here, but it still helps to not look like an ass when I do infrequently post.

on average I'd say about 1 in 10 of my posts get an edit, either to word something better, change a spelling mistake, or fix some clerical errors.

Usually I'll be almost done when I remember one key element that makes me have to rearrange every thing.

I edit maybe one out of 10 posts, I never edit a reply when I quote someone, and I have only once edited a reply more than once. I'm usually happy with what I put down and move on to the next thread.

Quite constantly.

Either I make some glaring flaw and hope to catch it before a reply post, or I just tone it down from a possible insulting state.

Or for an addendum. Often a quote will pop up during my posting time, and I'll want to reply to it without double posting. So I just edit it in.

Quite often. Usually I edit a post when I think of additional thoughts to put in it, but that doesn't happen to often. What does happen often is that I will notice an error in my post that I missed in the initial proofread. I always go back and edit those out. I will also often edit quotes into my post from people above or directly bellow me in the thread. I don't like making additional posts unless it is much later in the thread or someone is directly responding to one of my quotes. It's more convenient that way.

Though I try not to alter the content of the of the original post to much when I edit. That can cause confusion among readers if they read your edited post and then they notice that someone quoted your original post.

I edit when I've made spelling, grammatical, or coding errors, without labeling.

Occasionally, if I notice something that changes my point, I'll edit it in and label it...which doesn't help if I've quoted someone. Editing in a quote doesn't notify that person.

I edited this post before you read it. Again. And Again. And this is another edit.

Only when I made an error or put something offensive.

Or posted something completely irrelevant.

I'll edit typos(which are somewhat common in the sense of me leaving out words or using the wrong ones) but not much editing otherwise. I have this disconnect between what I think and what I type and results in the majority of my edits. Sometimes, I'll see that what I typed didn't even make sense and do a rewrite but this only happens when I'm tired. I try to avoid posting when I'm tired for this exact reason.
