So one time when I was little, I was out playing in the yard and I was stomping around above a grating. Next thing I know I was on my ass at the bottom of a shaft BELOW the grate. Turns out I slipped through a couple of the slats of the grating and if I didn't quickly turn my head to the side when I had, I would have strangled myself on the grating or snapped my neck! O_O

So I was wondering if anyone else had tales of cheating death without knowing it.

When I was a toddler, I stuck a metal key in an electrical socket and was electrocuted.

I also survived a bad car accident a few years ago. An old lady's shoe slipped under her brake and she T-boned my friend's car exactly where I was sitting. The car luckily had a metal frame, otherwise I'd probably be dead (or paralyzed at the very least). When I was finally able to get out of the car, there was a massive car-shaped imprint where I had been sitting. My back is still fucked up from the experience.

I've actually had a few other incidents as well; I must have luck on my side.

I was getting into a friends car one time, and he was pissed at me for boring him (he invited me over, and I played video games all day), and so as I was climbing into his car, he started pulling out of his parking lot. My foot was dragging on the ground, with me shouting "woah, holy fuck what the fuck!! stop stop stop!!".. he's yelling "Get the fuck in my car!"..

I just manage to scramble into the seat, and turn around before the door is almost ripped off by hitting a fence.

I've replayed the scene in my head hundreds of times over the years, and I'm sure if I hadn't been able to get into the car, I would probably be dead now.

Are you sure this hasn't been done before, Death by Search Button.

Once, When I was a kid I almost died by getting hit by a car, I moved back because I saw a butterfly move back and I followed it, one more second I would have been rodekill.

When I was about 6 or 7, I was climbing this huge pine tree to try to get a kitten down. I was probably 30ft up the damn thing when one of the branches I was standing on sheared off. The only thing keeping me from falling was a thick branch I had been using for balance. Unfortunately it was too thick to get my hands above it, much less around, so I was quickly losing what little hold I had on it. Somehow I managed to twist around, and was lucky to have found another branch to plant myself on. Not the most thrilling story, but I don't think I would've walked away from that fall.

Beyond that I've had a steel goal post fall on the back of my neck, and I've had my head smashed on a rock while playing football (soccer.) Walked away with a bruise and a concussion, respectively. I've been electrocuted several times. Yet, I've never been seriously injured or hospitalized, so I consider myself fortunate.

What an asshole.
yup.. I was his friend for about a year after that, then I just cut him out of my life.. for unrelated reasons..

but he was more concerned about his car door then his friend of 15 years that he almost crushed against his fucking fence.

Nearly drowned on holiday - Was in centre parks nottingham (for all the UK peeps) Rapids - Instead on the final ramp into the landing pool launching off into the pool, water suction stuck me too the ramp & pulled me to the bottom of the pool, Then the guy behind me landed on me, Rinse lather repeat.

Lifeguard tried to stop my mum from going in the pool too pull me out. He was too busy checking out the 'talent'.

We got him fired.

It happened about 12 year ago, I have never gone on those rapids again.

I never did but my brother did.

When he was about 3 he would like to climb into things like the dishwasher or the counters. One day he climbed into the stove and my Mom didn't see him and closed the door on him. She was about to start the Pre-heat when I was came in and asked if we were eating my brother tonight. She stared at me for three seconds before opening the stove door and seeing my brother in there.

Wow, did he have issues?
Everyone has issues.

Edit: I can look back at my experience and laugh.. other people have had worse situations... my girlfriend was hit on the head with a hammer by a boyfriend of her friend that wanted to rape her.

when i was a wee little lad i had a spoon on the top bunk bed for some reason, i ended up falling off face first and the back end of the spoon cut through the skin above my eyeball and got stopped by my eye socket, i guess if i was holding it a bit lower when i fell it would have gone through my eye into my brain which i imagine isn't the best thing for my brain.

Man, see you two hang around good people.
I meant issues as in mentally handicapped. So far I guess I've gotten off unscathed.
He wasn't mentally handicapped. He was brilliant, and a good friend of mine for many many years.. he just had a bad day and almost killed me because of it. As for my girlfriend... yeah.. she's had a horrendous history of abuse at the hands of the people she chose to hang out with (Half of it I don't even know because I don't feel like dredging up horrors of her past), but her life is in a different place now.
