This article can't be found... but why do you feel the need to be such a dick to this guy, then plug your own 'article'?RAKtheUndead said:Based on your opening post, I don't think you have the mental fortitude necessary to become a true nerd. This is coming from somebody who decided to install an operating system dating back to the 1960s using an emulator maintained by Tron Guy, and then wrote a 3,000 word article on the history of said operating system. But, hey, if you think you can out-nerd that, go right ahead!

Well, you've got the 'elitism' right, but there's a difference between being knowledgeable and then being an outright prick about it. From what I've seen you force your articles into many replies to different threads, and as proven in that comment you're a bit of a dick about it. Like you said, it is sad (and I have nothing against it, a thirst for knowledge is a great thing), but treating others with scorn for not wanting to waste their time with completely trivial matters is downright pathetic.RAKtheUndead said:I have disdain for the new breed of wannabe nerds who demonstrate only enough nerdity as is considered socially acceptable. As sad as it sounds (and is!) to be an elitist nerd, I went to a certain amount of effort to go beyond the normal call of duty when it comes to nerdy characteristics. I take pleasure out of knowing esoteric knowledge well outside of the realms of the normal internet denizen.NeutralMunchHotel said:This article can't be found... but why do you feel the need to be such a dick to this guy, then plug your own 'article'?
In the same vein, I've played computer games older than some of the parents of the Escapist's visitors, in order not to be caught in the whole "Gaming started with Pong" trap, or other, similar failings of knowledge.
