My sister's cat has been missing from two days. He's fat, old and black but doesn't respond to his name. I'm going out tonight to see if I can find him but any cat catching tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If the cat is within range, classical conditioning (which most likely food,feeding-time) otherwise you can go round with "missing posters" or wait it out presuming the cat is still ok.

There's not much that can be done, if the cat is chipped the odds are going to be higher of the cat returning but really cats run into the wild, have different owners and sometimes...get killed

Yea, this is, unfortunately the truth, you can only hope it'll return, since it's nigh impossible finding a cat unless you know where to look.

One of my cats ran away some 8 years ago or so and went missing for about 3 weeks until one day, when he suddenly showed up under day, hiding under the car. We had no idea where he had been, but I don't think those 3 weeks were healthy for him as he was pretty messed up in the head, when he came back and couldn't hold his bladder or use the litterbox anymore. It was really sad and him and the other cat we had didn't live much longer after that. I loved them despite everything and was sad too see them gone.

When my brother's cat went missing, we put up posters and looked around our neighborhood a bit. We had no luck for weeks, but left the posters up. A few months later we received a call from a man a few miles from our house that had found our cat.

So I'd say give it some time. There's a good chance that it may return. Does the cat have a tag with your phone number, or something to that effect?

Cats are territorial and would usually return to their home and stick around the general area. Your cat is probably somewhere in your neighborhood if nobody has taken it elsewhere. I've had outdoor cats before, and they rarely went beyond the end of my street.

If he was old and in poor health, he might have run off to die :S

Mine did when he got old

Cats do know the way home, he might return but it'll likely be a week or two.
