Make it an expansion.

think about it. everyones happy. more content for original as promised. still only 1 game so player base isn't divided. people who want the content of L4D2 are still getting it. its not alot of work valves end, probably less.

anyone know any flaws in my amazing idea?

Valve would not do it at this point because now that they have announced it they aren't going to switch it to DLC... Why?
New game price > DLC price
As much as I'd rather have it DLC its not going to happen at this point.

No thats pretty much what I've been advocating all along. Although I think it should be a standalone expansion, that way people won't have to had bought both to enjoy it. But it still should only be like 30 bucks.

I really wish they would do it as DLC. Or how about giving coupons to people who have bought L4D so the sequel isn't as expensive for us?

I don't know; I worry that this really awesome game I've been playing will suddenly have a much smaller userbase, and currently I can't afford a new game.

I got on Live just to play L4D with people, and I'd hate to see the pleasant experience of playing there go away.

And also: I'd like to see some extra content for the original. The lighthouse in The Last Stand is obviously some kind of end-chapter. Give me the 4 lead up chapters!

I realize that Valve needs to make money, and I've had a good time with their game, but there was an implication that there would be at least some new content coming for the original (although I may be making that up in my head) so this sequel feels a lot like a letdown.

DLC is basically mini expansions, I'm talking full on expansion, like a few DLC packs together. expansions often cost as much as original game. especially if they have alot of content, which we assume it would have if they're claiming its a sequel.

so no price is not an issue at all. completely disagree.

you might have made one valid point, valve would have to swallow their pride and redo their announcement.

which I can see them doing because they took away milestones in last TF2 update, and everyone complained and they gave them back :D

You talk like you're the first person who brought up the idea, hell from day one people were using the expansion argument.
The post was kind of sarcastic. Of course its not "my amazing idea", its blatently obvious simple solution. And I'm not sure why I haven't seen millions of posts already suggesting it.

With what your proposing it might as well just be its own game, you are proposing an expansion that would do the same thing as what they are already planning to release.
