How to fix ps3 controller

My buttons won't work. The directional buttons and the analog sticks do but square cicrle etcc won't work and to add to that my r2 button is always activated even if its not pressed down.

How long have you had it? I've had that happen to my PS2 controllers. Pretty much every official Sony one has had that happen now.

Sounds like it's time for a new one really.
What I do is fork out for a new one... and take the knackered one back.
If you buy it from somewhere like Argos/WalMart they probably won't be too arsed to check too closely!

I got it about a year ago and it happened during a game. I was actually playing with everything fine and then all of a sudden after the next loading screen none of the buttons work. I thought the ps3 was acting up so I reset it just to find that now my controller is mysteriously fucked up.

This all happened like 20 minutes ago. I tried resetting it from the back with a sasfety clip but that doesn't do jack shit.

There's actually a reset button on the back of the controller above the tag on the back. I dont know if that works but you can try pressing it with a pencil or something. Worked for me, but my problem was a bit different.
