I'm not planing on becoming an actor or a singer or an entertainer of any sort but, I must ask you fine lot about that which defines us in so many ways. Our voice.

My voice is all over the place. Usually its quite high and thats how I like to think of it, but here the other day when I was at this seminar it suddenly went really deep. Deep as in hey thats not my normal voice deep.

Why bother with how your voice sounds like? Well at work I need to talk a lot, to people. I got all these words in my head but they would sound so much better if I spoke them with a certain type of voice.

So, are there such a thing as voice tutors or something similar than can help one tune his voice?

I know what you mean, about your voice involuntarily changing octaves, as I have experienced it. At work, I sink into a soothing, baritone voice. But when I'm with friends, it will sometimes shrivel up into a frail, inaudible tenor. So social stress can make your voice sound funny.

I would suggest distracting yourself with the task at hand, if you're self-conscious. Also, when drinking liquor, put it on the rocks. Diluting it in ice will take the bite out of it, so it won't burn the back of your throat.

Hope my two cents has given you something useful!
