How to help a friend

So I talked my friend into getting guild wars today and he's going to install it later on tonight and play it but my question is how do I help him get into the game and have fun without having him have to do everything himself but not making it too easy?

Help him when he asks for help and don't when he doesn't.

Well i meant like ways I can help make the game more enjoyable but letting him figure out things on his own about new stuff but i'm not sure how to go about doing that

Thats just because you haven't tried. Or stand behind while he plays the game and stare like the Beholder. Trust me this works everytime. Even for meeting the in-laws.
