So, my final for my English class is to do a 3-5 minute presentation on how to do something of my choosing. I've thought of a few things but I dunno if I even like any of them. So, I'm turning to you guys. I'd like it to be something I'm interested in, and my main passions include:

- Video games
- Creative writing
- Dogs

But even if you don't have any ideas for those things, still, just throw anything you have at me. :) I'm really appreciate it. (I love how I always use you guys to help me brainstorm.)
I had thought of maybe explaining how to use the combat system in the game "Resonance of Fate" (because no matter what anyone says, the manual does not help you in that game!) but I'm afraid that it'll bore or go over the heads of the non-gamers in the class.

We can use pretty much anything for the presentation. Props, videos, music, powerpoint, etc. so there aren't too many limits (beyond common sense, of course).

Anyways, I'd really appreciate your guys' help. Thanks so much!

teach them how to brainstorm in creative writing, that's a skill that people tell you to learn, but never tell you how to do.

Funny. I had to do this in my middle school English class (it wasn't a final project though). I chose how to assemble a musical instrument.

OT: You should give a how-to about how to get started in Minecraft. Talk about the environment, day-to-night transitions, avoiding mobs, necessary crafting recipes, different types of blocks, how best to explore caves, etc.

Unless you don't play Minecraft. In which case, give an explanation on how to properly groom a dog and check it for parasites.

How to get to the moon.

Explain some of the ideas, research, conducted missions and experiments that went into the collective 7 years before Apollo 11. Apollo 11 means that there were 10 unsung heroes preceding it, you know.

Or you could go on about How to Keep your Cool, and talk about Apollo 13 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ9qdGAE8L8], or the Gimli Glider [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lBsqEtKTGU].

Noodles. How to cook noodles. Cook the noodles in front of the class whilst using PowerPoint to present a little bit of information to zazz it up. Where noodles originated, different noodles throughout different cultures.

And then at the end of your presentation, you can eat your noodles.
It's a win.

I dare you to do the classic nerd speech of video games and try to convince people it's not all killing people.

Common sense is annoying, otherwise I'd say do something on Dogs, and bring a real Dog.
Otherwise, no, Dogs is still a good idea, do that.

If you own a dog, do a presentaion on how you trained it, look after it, groom it and show off some tricks/commands etc. If you do not own said dog then find a stray and attempt to train it in the 5 minutes you have infront of the class. Either way it will be a presentaion that all the class will enjoy.

Presentation on how there is no more creative writing in the world today, as it's all been used before.
"For example," Chancie says "Tolkien, we can all agree, influenced pretty much ever piece of fantasy work today. And so, surely, everything made has an element of his work, and so it's barely creative."
Then point towards video games and use an example from there.
THEN go even further and show them Game Dogs and how ____Own Opinion Here____ it is.
AND THEN show them pictures of you as a baby.

Make sure to draw meaningless diagrams on the board while you do so. It makes it more interesting for them

...

Screw that, I'm taking that idea!
[sub]I jest. Use it. It's a pretty crappy idea anyway.[/sub]

I just got started in wood carving and find it interesting and calming. Try that. You have to measure a bunch so that it's not too long wide or tall.

For my English final I did a 15 minute presentation on "How to Make a Peanut-Butter and Jelly Sandwich"...

I included the making process, proper techniques, a whole list of "DO NOTS" (Example:"DO NOT put a live hand grenade in between the bread and fixings, as it may or may not be illegal in your area"), and finished by showing a successfully made PB&J Sandwich!

Surprisingly, I Aced it!

How to kill . In WoW, how to kill Ragnaros or Onyxia back in the days when it was challenging. Include stategy, purpose of each class and such. Pictures would probably make it more understandable. OR use something recent in WoW, but I wouldn't know any of those things because I don't play anymore.

"How to hold an English class hostage"

Be sure to include pictures and graphs, those will really sell the idea!
