How do you write a good game review?
What do you include, what not to include. How would you go about setting it up?
(And by "setting up" I mean how would you write the review. What would come first and so)

There is no right or wrong way to write a review - just look at the huge amount of User reviews we have and the various ways they are set out. I would say:

. Use correct spelling, grammar and paragraphs.
. Choose a game you have played sufficiently
. Attempt to be objective.
. Write about key areas such as graphics, sound, gameplay and lifespan.
. Do not use a scoring system.
. Take criticism with glee...

There is no magic formula for writing a review; and you shouldn't try to create one.

Now we talkin 'good' review, or just review that gets a ton of views? Because the later is ridiculously easy.

Watch this: _______ is complete crap and one of the worst games ever made, if you play that game, you are a sap and have horrible taste in games! Replace _______ with any popular new game, for example inFAMOUS would work fantastic right now, and you're done.

Voila, make a topic with those words and you're guaranteed at least two pages of debate, minimum. Doesn't count if a mod closes the topic. Writing a good review however requires actual thought and effort and will get half the views. What's the point right?

Number one tip is to make sure you've finished the game first. Nothing annoys me more than people playing an hour of a game, then complaining that the storyline hasn't revealed everything to them.

Ok, if it's a really popular game, say it sucks.

If it's a game that nobody knows or cares about, say it's the second coming of Portal.

Okey, the question seemed preety stupid, but I thought if there was anyone that had a good meathod or something, I don't know. Anyways on the other hand how do you present your work? What can you do to be different? What can you do so that people read your review, and so that yours doesn't get lost in the hundrereds of reviews that are out there?

P.S: Should I post a own thread for this?

For presenting your work, I'd say make sure everything's in it's own, clearly-defined space; using BB code is one of the best ways to do that on this site in particular.

As for garnering attention for your reviews, try to review something different than the rest of the world - on the Escapist, I'm sure at some point I read a review about waking up to a nice hot slice of toast, or something along those lines. Now, that's not necessarily what you want to review, to be sure, but other than being different, making sure your grammar is pretty damn well perfect and having a big, colourful review with lots of pictures is sure to make sure people keep visting.

Don't be overly dramatic. E.G The walls in this game permeate a sense of overt decadence into the otherwise mediocre atmosphere.

Don't yammer on and on about yourself. E.G When I bought this game from the sour gamestop employee I noticed row upon row of discounts. Sadly none of these impacted the sales price but I was able to snap up another second hand game from the bargain bin. This game was unfortunately too scratched to be played so I was forced to make a return trip and blah blah blah blah.
