Many of us come from "western" countries where ideas such as freedom and toleration are expressed and epitomized. These ideas form much of the foundation that which we live. We see it everywhere whether it be various civil or human rights or how people treat each other. The conundrum here is that despite these ideas being held up to great esteem people still demonstrate strong opposition and intolerance to those who are different. Could we be regarded collectively as tolerant if society cannot make up its mind, or should we regard tolerance as a non-collective entity and instead on the basis of individual action?
My overall question for fellow escapists here is how tolerant do you truly believe yourself to be toward different people? (Keep in mind "different people" can imply any manner of differences between you and other people.)
Edit: I'm sure many people will say they are tolerant and "don't judge" but lets be honest, people don't like certain types of people, and while you may not attack them, you probably won't align yourself with them because of certain differences.
