Well, I used to have dreams where I'm in Hell. I had those every week for 5 months. Wasn't so much fun.

Then, sometimes I have void dreams. Now those are awesome.

I can't control myself in my dreams, despite the fact that I know I'm dreaming. Slightly oddly, there exists a character in my subconscious who can... It's slightly weird, but basically there's some kind of psychotic uber-***** who exists only in my dreams, and is there purely to entertain herself by fucking with my head.

Oh, and these dreams do pre-date Inception; I'm reasonably sure I'm not inadvertently stealing an idea. It's an odd feeling, being powerless inside your own mind...
Man... I can't even imagine how messed up that could potentially be.
Only get those dreams once every couple of months, but I'm a lot less sane for the days immediately following one...
As long as this weird subconscious thing can't subsume my normal personality, I'm good, if slightly freaked out. I'm sure there's a reason, psychologically speaking, for the more primordial sections of my brain to screw with the rest of it, but I don't know what it is.

I have... nothing. No, seriously. I don't dream, or at least don't remember them. The one time I had a dream, I had no control over anything, I just watched a bunch of Arnold Schwarzenegger clones wander around what liked the set of Seinfeld, speaking a language that sounded sort of like french. Most surreal experience of my life.

Personally my most surreal dream was me standing in a really big tower lord of the rings style evil and what not, staring into a painting of a man with white hair and a white beard, he was wearing black robes and had 6-7 balls of light around his head, after staring into the painting long enough he started to step out of the painting, for some reason I turned around and looked out the tower (I was near the top somewhere) and where I thought there should have been ground there was just a vast endless ocean.

Nice reference, although very obscure. Unless, of course, you wanted people to be scratching their heads.
Its not about how many people get the reference. The right people will get the reference.

OT: Sometimes I can control them. And it usually ends up with me controlling people's minds and having them fight for my amusement. Also I have everything be narrated by either Patrick Stewart, Stephen Fry, Ron Perelman, and/or Morgan Freeman.

Why? Because I can.
Even if it's a little sadistic bravo on mind control.

sometimes i'm scared of my ability to wake up when i don't like a dream. (usially a nightmare), but i was in a haunted house with two people i don't even know and zombies coming from all windows and doors. The other two people were running around screaming, and i was like:
" f**k this!" and jump off a second floor balcony. as i hit the floor i woke up, that was my intention in my dream... kill myself = i wake up. =/

I had a dream like that once, A demon thing that had the ability to remove people's souls from their bodies just by touching them was attacking my school and I was one of the people in the school, After the first couple attacks I literally thought "This thing is attacking exactly where I think it would/should attack pretty much the instant I think it." the dream ended with me trying to help all the souls back to their bodies because somewhere along the line the demon was dealt with I think. I even drew the thing when I woke up, best drawing I've ever done (I'm really bad at drawing)

My dreams usually involve violence and world wide destruction.
Like nuclear war, Zombies etc. etc...

Also I'm usually some sort of badass, not in the way of having super powers of anything. But I know how to operate any weapon, vehicle or gadget and my hand to hand combat is better than solid snake's and the boss's combined.

It's weird because they always go the same way. It starts of calm, I'm walking along until chaos comes out of no where, there's gunshots, explosions, people screaming everywhere. I start to fight and this goes on until I've killed every enemy.

I remember one where I'm walking down a street in a shanty town, fallout style, with my best friend walking beside me. We spot a saloon, walk in get a drink and chat. Then gunshots erupt into the still air, glass shards fly past me, me and my friend jump behind the counter and draw automatic weapons. There's silence... The door explodes, they storm in guns firing, we return fire.
After 30 seconds of shooting, stabbing and hand to hand combat we are victorious with but a few cuts and bruises. We look at each other, I ask him if he knew who they were, he shrugs.
We then walk out of the saloon and continue our journey to no where.

...I have awesome dreams! :)

Perfect Reference, bravisimo!

OT: I have complete control over what I do in dreams, but end up doing stuff without giving much thought, like its a movie and the script has already been decided.

That sounds pretty awesome, shoot out dreams are always fun, when my freggin gun shoots. (Some times my dream weapons don't work) I've had a couple zombie apocalypse dreams, they can be fun... sometimes not so much.

My dreams and a lot of people's dreams fall into one single catagory:

Dreams are designed to allow you to either experience something you wish you had (thats why so many hormonal teenagers dream of sex) or things that you have a absolute fear of (why I have dreams about snakes even though they are my phobia) Its the brains way of giving you things for free and preparing you for other things..

OT: Generally I cannot control my dreams once in them, they won't even let me wake up.. unless someone tries calling me from reality.. I have however, developed a scheme for initiating what my dream will be about, just make sure you think about something all day, and especially before you go to bed. It works but sometimes, sometimes you just don't dream at all..

EDIT: Nightmares I cannot control, they happen on a regular basis depending on the severity of the fear on your conscious mind.. I dreamt of snakes for about two solid weeks after stupidly watching 'snakes on a plane'..bad idea and it was rubbish anyway..

Mine always start like that, I mainly only remember dreams where I break the mold somehow, like by doing something that makes me realize it's a dream, like lets say... pulling an RV out of a river and putting back on the road...

My dreams are surprisingly lucid. I can almost always control my actions, and in the ones i can't I hardly ever act in a way that i would expect myself to normally, even in the most extraordinary situations.
They usually involve some kind of conflict, ranging from battles with zombies to enourmous Lovecraft esque Gods. I'm not normally any more powerful then I am in the real world but i'm sometimes able to fly.
I get killed from time to time, which isn't exactly fun but it never wakes me up.(take that inception)

This thread makes me sad/angry since I don't dream or just completely do not remember them, kinda like: if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around does it make any sound?

Usually my in dream deaths are accompanied by zombification or re-incarnation, never fought anything like Cthulhu though not sure what I would try to kill him with in a dream state... Unless I combine the power of Mint and Berry with a satisfying crunch.

I can't control my dreams, at best i can remember them. The ones i usually remember are somewhat screwed. I remember one dream that i thought was pretty dam funny, i was running from zombies and i yelled out loud "Why the hell am i running? I could just enter a cheat and gtfo of here." and then i somehow enter a cheat to get a car and drive off.

Usually in my dreams I realise that I am in a dream and can kind of control what happens. In nearly every dream I can remember I am unkillable whether I know it at the time or not. Also whenever I am in a car I can make it fly.
