Whats with people wanting them to have guns, theres too many gun games out there.

Lets stick with the really easy fights, although you can now kill a group of dudes in about 3 seconds. (when you do a fancy kill one one bloke aim at another and hammer square, he will be insta killed, point the stick at another dude and hammer square, now he's dead etc if you see a guy about to attack hold R1 then press square, insta killed)

Well it all depends on what guns they use, single shot pistols might be ok, and having enemies use slow loading single shot rifles and stuff, but if they ever bring in automatic pistols/assault rifles then that would suck, which is the main reason I hate the concept that some people love which is to have Desmond be the main character of an AC game.

Throwing guns in would completely break the whole dynamic of the game. Actually, so would setting it in the present day. I hope they never do.

They already fucked themselves by having the story in the present day. We're just trying to make their mistake less terrible.

In Assassin's Creed: Modern Warfare, you would use a pistol, a sniper rifle and a hidden blade. You wouldn't spend all the game on the roofs ala Mirror's Edge, some missions would require you to scout out an area, find the best spot and wait for a perfect time to kill before legging it to the bureau, others would be close range, silent kills using the hidden blade, blending into a crowd and being unseen by the snipers above. If you ever encounter a bit of trouble while on the run it can turn into Uncharted or something, just with a sprint/free-run function. I think that'd be great!

I never understood the rationale behind that. It would have been easier on everyone to make them self-contained stories set purely in their respective eras. hell, even connect them together, as long as that connection isn't via Desmond and an Animus.

I feel the same way, but I'm a AC fan for the historical aspect of the game. I don't care for the overarching Desmond story at all.

If they want guns, they should set the game in Victorian England. They'll have guns, albeit rubbish ones, and they'll still be setting the game in a time and location that hasn't been overused in the game industry.:)

Technically, there's already a gun in AC2. But, for future, the might make it that you can only use sniper rifles and have a CoD like "Hold Breath" thing
So if you're cornered by Templars? You would pull out....A sniper rifle.. Huh.
Hey, it's one less Templar to deal with right off the bat.
