After the thread about why people dislike anime, many people mentioned the fans. I understand that many people refer to them as weeaboos, yet I've never caught on with that term. So, just as one describes a stereotypical emo as a guy in black, covered in makeup, who complains about everything, how would you describe a weeaboo and what makes them so commonly reviled (provided the description doesn't already answer that)?

I was always under the impression it was like a "Japanophile" but one who has to make sure that everyone else knows it.

Someone who is obsessed with anything with the word "Japan" slapped on it, just because it has the word "Japan" slapped on it.

This is weeaboo, or at least, the only weeaboo I care enough about to post pictures of.

Someone who is not from Japanese heritage trying to absorb every single thing about the Japanese culture and also act like he/she is from Japanese heritage as well.

The best example would be in that Not Another Teen Movie (you are lucky/ clever enough not to watch it) in that scene with that white guy wearing and acting Japanese approching the two Japanese guys and acting homie with them but get his ass kick by the two.

I'd describe them as "Loving all things Japanese" extremist.

There pretty much blinded with Japan and shun anything thats not from there. Also they're not actually Japanese.

Edit: The pick right above me sums it perfectly.

This would be right on the money. It's someone who has no sense of proportions or ability to discern quality from horseshit when it comes to Japanese media and culture. Which is pretty sad, since in their own heads they're probably connoisseurs.
