I used to be big on multiplayer but now I reserve that for party games and having friends over. Something about facing the same inconsiderate dirt bag over and over in a lag-spiked environment doesn't feel fun anymore.

I also used to be big on console games. But I've come full circle. I was old-school PC, then console, and now I'm back into the PC.

An "experience-seeking" gamer. I like looking for games that employ tricks and design ideas to do something really really well.

Of course, I can just be happy playing a "Lets kill time!" game every so often, not everything has to be amazingly crafted to have at least SOME entertainment.

I'm a smörgåsborder. I like dabbling in all kinds of genres on all kinds of systems, from handhelds to consoles to pc. Casual games, hardcore or retro, it's all good.

I usually only play online games / Single Player games with achivements.

Microsoft has totally killed my motivation to play a game without achivements/something else that I can showoff to my friends/strangers.

Mostly single player. I've only very occasionally tried MP, but my preference is definitely single player.

I'm also someone who plays a ton of different games, finishing very few of them, as opposed to focusing on one game until it's done.

A gamer who loves a good story and pisses off others because I want to watch the cut scenes in Halo (whilst in multiplayer). I like FPS but HATE cod (except nazi zombies). My fav type of game is a RPG especially the Fable series (pre-ordered Fable III LCE :D). I'm ok online but not the best. I only play online with at least one friend for fear of critisism

I play for the stories & gameplay which is why I don't read books much. Although I'm starting to read more now because games aren't living up to either of those aspects.
If you haven't already you could try out Beyond Good and Evil, it has a very good story. A quick warning: The start of BG&E is a little cutesy, but it get's better.
Edit: I hear Shadow of the Colossus also has a good story. I have yet to finish it though.
I haven't played it. Quick google, looks really interesting. Will hopefully get it. Thank you for the suggestions.

I'll play almost any game of any genre, but I lose interest when I've figured out the game, it's mechanics and winning strategies.

Many games I won't finish and I never go for 100% completion. I stop when I'm decent at the game, but well before I master it.
I've got a big collection of games and this is the only way I can sample them all.

Mostly a single player console gamer, prefers RPGs but enjoys the occasional outburst of online MW2 just for 'lulz'.

I prefer single-player. Immersion and story are important, I'm better at strategy than reflex.

Old school Nintendo and RPGs are the way to go.

I'm the sort of gamer that plays anything just to experience it. Really, I'll play whatever people throw at me, if I can anyway.

I also enjoy the technical aspects of games, the engines they use, and the new ideas that all games come with. (Most games need a new idea to even be considered by a company) I prefer the gaming motto of "Even bad games have good ideas" and I try to live up tot that by playing everything and understanding their merits.

Would it be pretentious of me to say I like almost everything? I mean, you could just look at my current "Recently Played" list of games:
Fallout 3
Borderlands
Audiosurf
Pure
UFC 2010 Undisputed
Starcraft
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

I have no idea what I should play next. And that's why I usually just sit in front of the computer/PS3 doing nothing. Other than that I play for the story or sometimes I like to get tactical in RTS games.

I see myself as a rational, safe risk-taker. if a game sounds good I tend to buy it unless I have heard how much it sucks. I tend to try before I buy and play mostly original games that provide a unique experience. I tend not to play FPS's and gravitate toward Action-RPGs or adventure games

I am a singleplayer gamer. My friend and fellow gamer is always talking to me about the multiplayer news for Call of Duty: Black Ops, and I have to repeatedly remind him that I don't care. He claims that multiplayer is inherently superior to singleplayer because it adds infinite playtime as long as there's a player base, and I reply that it's adding playtime by adding grind, not content. I really love RPGs, since they have staggering amounts of content that draws the player into the experience. Even JRPGs, which are marred by a myriad of gameplay issues still make me feel like I've accomplished something. Multiplayer is a good idea to increase the longevity of a game, but I'm always disappointed if it's at the expense of the singleplayer.
