I wouldn't keep making a new "totally-not-Pidgey" and "totally-not-Rattata" every generation. Or if I had to I'd do it more like Gen II where Sentret and Hoot-Hoot were different enough and coexisted in the wild, and not just a reskinned complete replacement.

That's where a lot of the bloat in numbers is coming from, making the same damn thing over and over again where existing Pokemon will do.

It should look like this
The graphics have barely changed since generation 1. I've always described Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, as how pokemon should be after all these years.

Vanilluxe...oh good lord is that it's name, oh lord what is the chandelier Pokemon's name *looks it up*...Chandelure...gotta admit, they really need to think up better names than that...

Also, forgot to mention Gigalith! Best looking rock-type Pokemon in the series to date for sure!
Sure some of the names are unorignial, but they do have a ton of pokemon each gen to name and the best names seem to be ones that are portmanteaus of different words.

Also, no Samurott, Krookodile, cofagrigus, or jellicent, yet? for shame.

Gen 5 had some good designs and bad ones (like every gen)
Hell yes.

Make a Pokemon game that is a free-roaming 3D RPG, with a combat system like in Final Fantasy. I'd love to see that.

Lol, it is already free roaming (more or less) and it already has a combat system like Final Fantasy. Random encounters, turn based, have to flip through lots of menus to do stuff.

I think the games could be improved by fully-rendered 3D graphics, character customization, and more nooks and crannies and sidequests to explore.

A character creation system like Dragon's Dogma.

Have clothes and accessories to purchase.

Anyway, create a new set of Pokemon (please toss out all the Gen 5 Pokemon) and have those Pokemon the only ones available until you beat the Elite Four. Also, new evolutions to existing Pokemon in the Pokedex (come on, we need an evolved from of Rapidash to be a flaming flying Pegasus).

First: This is how Gen 5 works. You have only access to gen 5 pokes until you beat the elite four.
...until Black 2 & White 2, which completely throws that formula out the door. Or should we consider this Gen 6?

TheKasp said:
Second: Why toss out Gen 5? And please give a better argument than "the designs are ugly / stupid" because this is just false.
I would say that the whole "aspects of Pokemon in Gen 5" is what I want tossed out. Yes, there are unquestionable favorable Pokemon in Gen 5, but I want the whole "moving Pokemon" sprites out and change to more clearly displayed Pokemon sprites. Also, abilities like Prankster are just plain cheap in Wi-Fi battles, yet people continue to use it.

Full 3d rendering would be nice, One thing that I really could improve the play is eliminating randomly spawning Pokemon it adds such a needless grind now that there are so many Pokemon to capture, and training, and competitions. I like to be able to see the Pokemon naturally interacting with each other, then throw out one of my Pokemon to engage battle mode, having to actually hunt the rares rather than just walking in circles.

Not having an encounter rate of 99/100 steps. Or, maybe have a Green-Yellow-Red feature on your Pokegear of phone or whatever, and when it reaches red, you get in a fight.

And, maybe a more undetermined story. I'm just talking dialouge-options and such, which *slightly* effect later dialouge options or something. I mean ending-determination and story-routes. It'd be alot more interesting, definetely.

An actual story, added regions more post-elite 4 content, less legendary events, better battler AI, more radiant events, more sidequests and i'd like to see a version of the Orange Islands League (The Sevii did not count)

Something to influence the nature of bred pokemons, and ffs reduce the shiny probability.

Oh and a non-bullshit way to get a good amount of pokemon in-game.

As I said in another thread keep the game formula exactly the same BUT with all the existing regions in one game. I do like the idea of a New Game + mode though.

Many of the suggestions to improve the story or your interaction with your avatar and your Pokemon sound good but none of them address the problems with combat which is in my opinion two simple. With one Pokemon getting Approximately one move, with no movement at all making any allowable depth purely mathematical and not tactical.

Their are two directions I can see you going with the combat to improve it. The first if you want to keep in the standard structure of the game is to go with action combat and allow you to directly control the Pokemon. That probably makes if a have appeal to a different type of gamer than the current fan.

The other option I see working well, possibly just because its what I would love to play(not that I would not enjoy action Pokemon.[Lets make it an aside inside and aside inside an aside.]), would be Pokemon tactics. Gird or distance based turn based battles on a field with multiple Pokemon fighting at once.

I find it hard to emotionally bond with a single, tiny sprite with numbers attached to it.

Well, based on what I liked about pokemon (and wanted in the game) as a kid, I'd say dynamic monster ecology, less focus on the story (seriously, kids are just there to catch pokemon), less grinding, and better AI. Possibly a bigger world, too - I remember that I was pretty psyched when the map was twice as large as I thought it was in gold/silver.

I would like more dynamism in battles. The pokemon should actually move around the battlefield instead of cycling through animations.

I would also like to see a big RPG on a console and a brawler in the vein of Smash Bros. where you had every pokemon at your disposal and could level them up through their evolutions.

I've never been a fan of turn-based combat, so what if they made it like Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, where you could dodge and counter enemy attacks? And for multiplayer, you just fight the other players old school.
