Post 16 if people are interested.

Still doesn't make a lot of sense though. People have been demanding offline mode, why discourage it unless there's something slightly off about it from their point.

Choice should never really be discouraged, should it?

Date of that post you linked:

I suspect, however, that the single player indie mod *cough cough* will be about as popular as Doom 3's Duct Tape mod. And if I could get over the cheesy character design and particle overkill, I might have been interested in Blizzard's new designer heroin.

I do hope it will be popular, though. So the item buyers will move to this new paradise, illegal item shops will starve to death and finally, make Diablo 2 public games playable again.

I don't care about stat tracking. Or achievements. Or the ridiculous system of gamer score.

I also don't see why people keep going on and on about the Auction House. Diablo IS NOT AN MMO. You aren't being forced to play with others if you don't want to.

They will discourage it, so I it would work like SC2s offline mode does. You can play as a guest but there's no achievements, stats tracking, all those nice online features. Hopefully you'll be able to continue whatever game you left off on and whatever characters you want (I wouldn't assume otherwise, really.)
Sounds like GTA 4 with the offline profile mode on the GFWL. That's fine, most people who want an offline mode don't tend to give a crap about achievements anyway :)

Nope. Old quote is old. Date of post: 10/24/2010. Date of PC Gamer interview with Blizzard confirming that there will be no offline play whatsoever: this month. Roughly a week ago now. You're like the third person to pull up this outdated info.
I figured as much.
I find it hilarious that I currently can't follow that link because the site is either down or has too much traffic.

Edit: Nevermind, the connection issue was on my end.
See, this always online business couldn't possibly be a hindrance :p

I prefer beeing always online rather how Diablo 2 was which meant having different chars for offline and online.

As i've said before, i'm not going to be playing it anyway.

Nothing to do with online or the auction house there are just better games being released that I have no interest in this whatsoever.
