I can't imagine that Sony will make existing services like Netflix PlayStation Plus exclusive but it seems safe to assume that any new services for the PS3 will require a premium subscription.
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the disc-less Netflix application on the PS3 is Playstation Plus exclusive. That would limit non-Plus members to putting the disc in every time, while the Plus membership competes directly with Live Gold.
If you want to get some use out of the wii, they are changing only 9 bucks without any "prenium membership" deal (mostly because the wii doesn't have a memberships period) for one months subscription to Netflicks.

$120?!! That shit better be commercial free and even then that price doesn't justify anything! I bet less 50000 users will buy this. That price is ridiculous.

What's Playstation Plus? What's Hulu? Why do I care about any of this??????
Then why are you posting here?
Honestly, it did need to be said. Streaming in any favor is a pile of crap, hulu being just a step above mining youtube for mst3k.
OK, thats cool, just wanted to know the opinion on it, if it was sarcasm and I completely missed it or something.

Just a question... can't you just use hulu from the ps3 browser already without paying a dime? I can't test it because hulu isn't available on my country, but as long as it is a flash video player it should work, seeing as almost every streaming site works.

I've read two articles on this so far, one from Destructoid and this one, and I still don't know what Hulu is.

Yet another reason for me to completely ignore this service.

As far as those saying that you can just watch it on the computer, there's a difference between watching Hulu shows on a ~22" computer screen with computer speakers and watching them on a 36+" HDTV with a surround sound audio system. Also, not everyone has the ability (or the desire) to hook up their computers to their big screen televisions.
Well, its extremely easy to do, so the "ability" thing is out the window.

Don't understand why you wouldn't want to, either.

and who the hell uses "computer" speakers?

Also, from my current perspective, my 36" HDtv is smaller than my 22" monitor.
Connect computer to 36" tv through hdmi/dvi/vga? win.

Actually they are starting Hulu Plus. So on top of needing the Playstation Plus deal, you'd have to spend $10 a month for Hulu Plus to access it on the PS3.

What they plan on restricting to free users, I don't know, but it'll suck.
what is happening to free users, is not that bad, you can only watch the last 5 episodes of a series unless they are doing a special. premium users get access to all the seasons and all the episodes of all the shows on hulu.... and no commercials when they watch them.

XBL Gold + Netflix instant stream is much, much, much cheaper.
That. Plus with the cheapest netflix you still get the option of a disc being sent to you when you want.

Essentially, this kills the trite "but PSN is free" arguement.

Owning both a 360 and PS3, this is a bad idea... The marketplace for the PS3 is just, well, bad. Call me a troll, call me a fanboy, I dont care. Its poorly designed, I dont like the layout, I dont like that they cant get multiplatform content first (ex. GTA4, MW2). I just don't like it at all. Why pay $50 a month for a service I dont like to run a service that I can use for free on my laptop? (not to mention I can connect my laptop to my TV...)

If your gonna make a PlayStation Plus update, make the marketplace worth the money. I know a lot of people who have both consoles, and for people like us its gonna be "PSN+ vs XBL", and were only gonna pay for one. Get content, get fancy widgets. XBL made me want to sink money into it; I liked the games far more when both marketplaces were vanilla (and I had the peer pressure to justify it too). Now that good games on both leveled out, The Netflix Update sunk me in. It let me use a service I already had a lot better. If your going to CHARGE us, make it worth our money.

I agree with half the people here. Who cares about Hulu?

Personally, I feel I have to strongly disagree with your view here. It's almost the exact opposite. I dare say I prefer the PSN layout, because I think it makes it easy to scroll through games. Also, Netflix sucks in my honest opinion.

So yeah. Opinions on this matter differr greatly.

You guys know that Hulu plus lets your stream in 720p, right?
Which means the quality for this service is much higher then the 'free' service of streaming on your computer.
I would totally be getting this for my 360...if I lived in the US.

Both the Wii and PS3 options require a disc in the console, but don't require any other fees. The Wii version can't play the HD versions of the content though, which makes the PS3 version the better of the two free options if you have the choice.

The Xbox 360 version doesn't require a disc and can play HD video, but it also requires a Live Gold subscription. I've already got one of those, so the Xbox 360 version is the one I prefer. Plus, the Xbox works with my normal universal remote, which is a huge plus for me when I want to watch a movie.

I think I will stick to watching Netflix on my ps3. Hulu used to be really good and then it kind of tanked in my eyes the day that they cut the service off from Boxee have not really used it since. I can see most of the shows on hulu on a mix of youtube, and the sites of the networks.

For all you people comparing console dongs. They are basically the same thing. The word on the street is that netflix player will be coming to the PSN plus users that does not require a streaming disc. For non playstation plus users we will still have to rely on the streaming disc. Xbox is going to be getting hulu also and I am pretty sure you will need to be a Gold member to use it.

Wait, they want money for Hulu? When did this happen? I missed it...

I have cable right now, but I suppose if I got rid of it again, this would be a viable alternative. But they took away The Daily Show, so I don't use Hulu as much as I used to.

Or you could, you know, fire up the PS3 web browser and direct to "hulu.com".

Just a thought.
