I find it very naive and shortsighted to try and sum up the entire history of humanity into six words, particularly those six words.

A whole bunch of stuff happened?

Those six words work better then anything else anyone wrote. Especially since we can't be entirely sure that what we know happened actually happened the way we think it did, and common knowledge about past events is often far distorted from what we do know.
