Spoiler Warning (Though I try to remain as vague as possible)

Curious as to what people decided to do at the end of Deus Ex HR and why?

I went with Taggart after an intense 15 minute contemplation :/
Throughout the game, I always felt like I was being f---ed over by Sariff and wanted to return the favor and well, going with Darrow just felt too evil. Also, taking the cowards way out was out of the question.

So, Escapees, how did you make up your mind? How immersed and involved were you in the decision/game as a whole? I personally couldn't turn keep my lights on while playing due to the atmosphere it generated =D

... now its over QQ

When I beat the game I went with Darrow's choice because it felt like the nicest one actually. Telling everyone the truth as to what happened and revealing it to everyone? Seemed like Adam was doing the world a service.

I didn't like the endings to Human Revolution. Either "Side with Sarif, let the broadcast go, side with taggart or kill yourself"

There wasn't the same depth in choice as the original game had with a "Lesser of 3 evils decision". It just felt like the game developers half assed the ending and thought "Well gamers like choice... lets just make something up" The lack of an actual coherent cutscene as to the result of your choice proved it quite well. In the original you can have a conversation with Everett that mirrors the intro to the game in a sinister way. While here you just have a philosophical monologue done to irl footage.

Also there was still another decision which was not to make a decision at all. The original Deus Ex didn't have this as Bob Page was about to link with Helios and you had to either kill him, disrupt the connection and effectively destroy the global hub or merge with Helios yourself. But in this game I just kept thinking "Wait... does Adam really even have to make a choice? Can't he just walk away?" There wasn't a sense of urgency and really the presence of a single room with buttons to decide with just felt like the developers ran out of creativity. I would have liked to see actual results and differences between each ending besides just "I didn't like so and so"

The fact Taggart's decision was such a "middle of the road" choice and was the only logical one was what killed it for me. It also was disappointing how only the suicide ending explained why characters like Adam Jensen wouldn't be around during the time of Deus Ex, and thus could possibly be the only canon one.

The entire storyline to Human Revolution was a major letdown. But that was probably my going into it with really high expectations. I loved the gameplay though

In my defense today was my first day back to work so I was forced to have played through it before now in order to give it my full attention =D... that and I couldn't stop playing.

Hm, yea I would admit the ending felt a bit rushed but I thought the storyline seemed really well developed :/ There was great pacing and a few good twists. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the love interest motif. I just didn't give a f--- about her or what happened to her, possibly because of the very thing Yahtzee was taking about a couple weeks ago about how stories tend to immediately axe the love interest ASAP regardless of whether any actual chemistry was developed between the two.

The relationship between Jensen and Megan Reed was implied to already be heavily developed by the time the story starts. Through conversations between Adam and her mother it's implied she introduced him. I didn't particularly find it unrealistic Adam was going through the story searching for Megan, I did find it a particular let down that they didn't really do anything with her character when they did. Adam just has a 5 second conversation with her, then goes to Antarctica.

I did however find it interesting the voice actress who played Megan was married to Adam's voice actor. That was a bit of a twist.

Regardless of what was implied, the relationship seemed superfluous which was indicated by the scene you're referring to. We kept being *told* that the two were in love but oddly enough, it seemed like Jensen showed more care and compassion towards Haas rather than Reed

Jensen is more or less JC Denton with facial hair so he doesn't really show very much emotion anyway.
