What would the universe be like 3 trillion years from now? The solar system we live in and most if not all of its planets would probably be destroyed due to the Sun finally burning out and exploding. But where would Humanity be?

Have we evolved at all? Would there be a successor to the humans (most likely a sentient primate species)? Or would we have not evolved, same as we are now, but homeless travelers searching the universe for a new home?

But I do have a theory; the Earth humans are extinct, most dead from Earth being destroyed somewhere in the time line, others dead after years of space travel. However, there may just be other humans in the universe. On another planet, perhaps evolved recently or living for thousands of generations, lives another species of humans.

What do you think? Where would Humanity be 3 trillion years from now?

Aye, but eventually the Sun will collapse. Of course this isn't for a VERY long time, but it'll happen at some point.

We'll be somewhere else by the time that happens.

Assuming humans don't nuke themselves to extinction before space travel is perfected and we can travel to the far corners of the galaxy, humanity in 3 trillion years would probably be impossible to comprehend from our point of view.

I'm just going to assume it looks something like what's in this book. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperion_%28novel%29]

Refer to Doctor Who for this one, in that your correct, we've moved out, doubt there would be any pure humans, unless there isn't any aliens out there, and we would more then likely have an empire.

Because thats how humanity goes, we always adapt.

That or we kill ourselves in nuclear war.

I say, if we manage to leave Earth for real, humanity will survive forever. Like locusts, we'll travel from planet to planet, harvesting all natural ressources...
Of course, in 3 trillion years mankind won't resemble humanity today at all.
Humans continually evolve and who knows what kinds of genetic changes we'll have done to ourselves by that time. No way to tell.

Post-physical, pissing around in the galaxy like it was one giant cosmic playground; which, or course, it is. Need I say more?

Well, if you take a look at this graph here...

We'll probably need to find a new planet to live on due to overpopulation. So we'll be expanded all over the universe.

its actually 4.5 billion years, not 3 trillion.
OT humanity will be extinct by then, not many species last longer than then big one mill, and homo sapian hasn't done half of that yet, and we've wrecked the world!

Well lets forget the sun and then the thread will be more varied in answers probably.

I would like to think humanity has collapsed on itself and is gone. Plants life has grown over all of the cities and the world has no sign of humans being there before, animals have evolved a bit more branching of a few new species of animals, then I am watching all this with David Attenborough telling me in his awesome voice.

We'll die! That's what'll happen. It's what humans do best. Killing and dying. Just like all other species.

Impossible to comprehend. If humanity can successfully colinise other planets, creating self sustaining colonies on the moon, mars, asteroid stations, space stations, Jupiters moon's etc, i see humanity living on for more or less eternity. I see us reaching this stage in the next 500 years or so.

In a trillion years time though? I imagine humanity, if we can still be called "human" will have transcended reality.

I think that we'll be spread across the galaxy.

[sup]I'm hoping that the world will be like Mass Effect. That would be awesome.[/sup]
