If science fiction has taught me anything, it's that we have no idea what the future's going to be like. So I'm not going to even try.

Politically/socially, I have no idea.

As for technology, I reckon that a new power source will be found and that flying cars, or hover cars at least, will become the norm. Also, Computers and phones will continue to get smaller, and computer monitors and TVs will continue to get larger.

Think Matrix with the robots and the pods, except it's not against our will.

More or less.
So... you're saying that people will consciously aspire to become living batteries?

Progress isn't chaotic... just use your imagination.

All answers to your question can be found in the world of Matt Groening's Futurama.
I hope, but I doubt.

You're only thinking near-future. What about after that?

I hope we get online contact lenses and can just look at something and receive information about it or personal spacecrafts that run on cosmic background radiation. but knowing our culture we will just blow ourselves up before we even get holodecks.

I want to be a newtype...

We'll need the evolution since we can't repair the earth. Like all teens, we have to leave home at some point in our lives.

My two cents...

I don't know, nor do I want to guess. Our idea of the future may be miles off from what it will be like, or is, if you follow the "wibbley wobbley ball of timey wimey stuff" school of thought.

It's like... y'know those American films and "house of the future" type stuff? Their idea of what now was going to be like seems hopelessly naïve compared to what the present is actually like. I feel that any predictions we make now will end up being similar, either because we envision stuff that would still be way off to you great(x 10) grandchild, or things will be much more advanced than we think they will be.
