Humble Bundle Presents Its Nintendo eShop Collection

Humble Bundle has just unveiled the "Humble Nindie Bundle", a collection of indie video games for Nintendo's Wii U and 3DS platforms.

<a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/humble%20bundle?os=humble+bundle>Humble Bundle is largely considered a PC gaming service, even with the <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129818-Humble-Mobile-Bundle-3-Rolls-Out-Six-Android-Games>occasional mobile bundle or eBook deal on its storefronts. You certainly wouldn't expect it to release games for a traditionally restrictive publisher like Nintendo - yet this afternoon that's exactly what Humble Bundle did. If you head to the website right now, you'll see the "Humble Nindie Bundle", a pay-what-you-want eShop collection that includes Moon Chronicles, Mighty Switch Force, Guacamelee and more for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS devices.

As with previous bundles, the Nintendo eShop collection includes nine games with a tiered pricing scheme. If you pay the $1 minimum, that unlocks the Metroidvania platformer Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition, the arcade-inspired Woah Dave, and the 3D space altering Mighty Switch Force. Pay over the average price, and Humble Bundle will throw in the adventure-puzzler The Fall, the skateboard-grinding OlliOllo, and the 3DS FPS Moon Chronicles. Finally, pay over $10, and you'll unlock Stealth Inc 2 and Steamworld Dig to round off your digital eShop collection.

Sure, these aren't the games Nintendo is best known for - there's nary a Mario or Zelda in sight - but these are still critically-acclaimed indie hits which will keep you busy for hours. What's more, a portion of proceeds go to Code.org, a non-profit charity seeking to increase worldwide education of computer science. Combined, that makes Humble's Nintendo eShop Bundle worth inspecting - and we don't even know what bonus games will be unlocked next week.

And perhaps if this bundle does well, Nintendo will consider a collection for its in-house franchises. Who knows?

The Humble Nindie Bundle is region-locked and can only be redeemed on North, Central, and South American Wii U and 3DS consoles (with the exception of Brazil).

Thats not really fair to say. Stealth Inc 2 is quite enjoyable and while OlliOlli isn't anythin special its still quite fun as well. The Fall was somethin that always looked interestin, but I didn't really feel like ploppin 10 bucks down for. At 10 bucks for The Fall, OlliOlli, and Guacamelee? That's a god damn steal right there.

Plus there's more that's gonna be added to the OlliOlli/The Fall tier which could end up being awesome.

While I don't object to HumbleBundle branching out to Nintendo's systems on a practical level (on a philosophical one, I see all consoles as unnecessarily proprietary and should be phased out in favor of more open platforms like PC and Android), I do find it disappointing that this bundle is limited ONLY to Nintendo's platforms when many titles listed also are available on PC.

Several titles, such as The Fall, Guacamelee, Stealth Inc, and Steamworld Dig are also available on PC. One reason I patronize Humble is that for the most part you gain access to a wide assortment of platforms. For instance, you get Steam keys plus direct downloads/installers for Linux/Windows/OSX if a title offers them. Why couldn't they offer access to these platforms as well as the Nintendo ones? If the answer was "Because Nintendo refused to allow it", that would be yet another reason I'm none too happy with the console manufacturer mindset. Even though I own some of the titles, I would have definitely thrown another $10 their way had they offered PC keys for the games that possess them as well. Pity.

Because the point of this is to offer a Nintendo bundle? Seriously, ever one of these has been in previous bundles, so what are you complaining about?
Plus, you don't get the console or mobile versions of a game when you buy a PC bundle, or the console and PC versions when you buy a mobile bundle. You don't see people complaining that the EA bundle was PC only.
The weekly bundle is for PC games, the mobile for android, and this Nintendo Bundle is for - Nintendo. In fact this is the first bundle to offer two different platforms in one bundle, the WiiU and the 3DS.

That's how I have 400 in the bank! :S Most of which haven't been played yet... but I am working my way though.

I like the bundles. If there is something on there I would probably buy anyway, or looks good then I like getting a further 5-6 games with it. There have been some great deals in the past. Like a large chunk of the worms games, or the great 1st person puzzle games they had once, or the SEGA one... I never thought of getting SEGA All Stars racing before, but now I don't know how I have lived without it!
