Daniels stumbled as he was pushed back, reeled back into the world from his thoughts as some punk occupied his former stead. The stranger was quickly ushered out by Detective Caron, the most recent addition to the homicide team. Daniels composed himself and watched sternly as Caron began speaking to the man in the hall. Swiftly, the lead detective strode out of the room and approached Caron.

"Can I speak with you in private for a moment, Detective?" Daniels asked calmly as he led her aside, still keeping the punk in his sights. "You were transferred from Traffic, right? Well, I can't say I'm too familiar with how they run things in that department, but here in Homicide, we have certain procedures that must be followed. Now, I don't know if you were misinformed or if they just happened to skip that chapter in your training, but there can be no civilians on scene and certainly not without the express authorization of the lead detective or, in this particular case, agent."

"He's related to the victim." Was pretty much all Violette could say. Somewhere in her head Daniels was right, but here was someone who was related to Ms. Michaels. Perhaps he could've shined some insight into this investigation; perhaps he could show more restraint in his own goings on.

*.*.*

An elaborate Troll's cross was strewn across the sheet. Damascened ridges were all over the images, with a old looking Space needle within the loop of the cross. Liquid was travelling down the cross, leaving a convoluted and congested stream wherever it traveled. Two moons were above the main focus with a focus that resembled eyes hidden behind clouds.

Yet Artemis was still bugged by the image. Somewhere he wanted to put a few serpents and roaches in the Space Needle drawing, and yet it was so small that he couldn't find room to etch them, nor would they have been noticed. In the end he had to settle for putting some spiral etchings on the troll's cross in hopes it would look more interesting than the decay pouring out.

'It's a mess.' he thought as he flipped another page for a new sketch.

"I don't give a damn if he's the victim incarnate," Daniels said, keeping his voice low to ensure Detective Caron was the only one to hear. "If you want to question him, that's fine, just do it off the premises. Do you have any idea how much shit I'd be wading in if he touched something in there? I'd be up to my fucking eyeballs if forensics found there was material evidence tampered with. I understand you may be feeling strongly for his loss, but that doesn't mean you completely ignore protocol just so he can satisfy his goddamned curiosity. I apologize if I'm coming off as a complete asshole, Detective, but I didn't come this far in this case just to let one little fuck-up put us any further behind the prick who did this. If simply telling someone 'no' is too much for you, maybe you should go on back to Traffic so you can run license plates and inspect fenders, something you might be a little more comfortable with. Now, get him a tissue and then get him the hell outta here."

'Somebody wants to beat their chest.' Violette thought to herself. Her stomach churned at the speech Daniels gave her. He was right, but Violette thought he may have exaggerated somewhere. She said nothing as she left the house to get back to questions with Asimov.

She had mused a bit on how fast events had went for her until she found him on the stoop; considering his appearance he wasn't hard to spot.

"You calmed down, Asimov? I still have my questions."

"I sympathise, but I need you to focus on Veronica. You may be the only who can shed some light on her and why he chose her." Caron said to Asimov. She wanted him to remain stable so he could provide more information; best thing to do is make him think he's vital.

"Were you in recent contact with her?" Thank god she didn't say last.
