These kind of games are barely talked about.. The kind of game where you buy a rifle, animal scent, a salt lick and attempt to hunt deer. I remember playing one that I really enjoyed when I was young, and haven't played one in ages, and I was curious: Does anyone still play them? If so, what game?

By the way, I'm not talking about shooting mole rats in fallout 3. :]

I tried one for about 5 minutes and got bored. I just walked through the woods over and over and never found a damn thing.

I suppose that's realistic, but...

Maybe they should make a game where you just sit your fat ass up in a tree for 6 hours and drink until a helpless deer wanders into the range of your 20x sniper rifle.

Yeah I've played a couple in arcades, normally ones that happen to be lcated in those sleepy little towns that are far from major urban centres. But I've had great fun with them and would like to try out a truly realistic one (I might just take your advice there Furburt), as long as it doesn't come with a gun peripheral with accuracy sensors buggier twitchier than a psychotic in an earthquake.

Weirdly, I only like shooting people.

Animals can't really be douchebags, my primary reason for commiting 89 murders in Oblivion.

They are ignored and the odd thing is when a game like Far Cry 2 comes out and people condone it for the player being able to run over animals but the same people do not blink a eyelid at the hunting games. The media seems to ignore them (in the U.K at least) purely because they are not popular and in this sense they are lucky to be ignored as we can carry on playing them in peace.

The Cabela games are OK. particularly the more recent editions. Certainly different, anyway.

Not sure if you've ever been hunting, but running an animal over and hunting are 2 very different things lol. Not that I care that you can run animals over in games. Sounds fun. :D
I know they are completely different things but the point I was (badly) trying to make was that according to the media a hunting game is viewed as O.K but a normal game where animals die is not.

Besides something did get run over when I went hunting, my foot.
