Eh, let's see how the game actually turns out in two years.

As my name probably shows I'm somewhat of a fan of the old Suikoden games, but I'm not getting excited just yet.

A director who was part of a development team 20+ years ago means little to me right now, no matter how grand the vision of a director, they're ultimately limited by the budget and hired developer team.

Expecting design A or D to win, D because BIG BEWBS and A because awe, clumsy looking waifu is cute!

The ranking was D>B>A>C in the end. She apparently is named Hakugin and is an old friend of Mio. She likes baked custard.

And hey, it's not just the director, everyone in the team worked for the old suikoden games. They got the artist for S2 and one of the music ladies worked on Wild Arms.

I have followed this KS very closely and it is the very first one I ever actually backed myself because it's just that outstanding. They really do sound like they were just never given an opportunity to make games like Suikoden after a certain time but they all wanted to for all this time and finally they get to. Also they are deriving inspiration from Octopath which is a good thing in my book.

After Left Alive, I am weary of any attempts to resurrect dead niche franchises with a strong following.

Never heard of that franchise before, so prolly not the same thing. Anyhow, this isn't a revival, it's just a spiritual successor. Konami still owns suikoden, and this isn't taking place in the same world at all.

Front Mission series. Had the big names and it was a steaming hot pile of shit.
