Okay, fun story time.

So over the course of the last year, I had to get a job to support my family (My Sister and parents, not a wife and kid(s) family) and the one job I was fortunate to get was a job as a custodian. It works: I started losing weight, I have a steady paycheck and when I have down time, I can play games (I'm a custodian for a Community Center in town).

Now I didn't tell this story so I could brag about my job (Which would be a douche-bag thing to do), but I came to talk about something that has been on my mind.

Most of the time, the lights are shut off when I am working, and I only turn them on as I enter a room or unless it needs to be lit from when I start work to when I leave work. It all works well, either way. However, I find that when I am working, I will see figures in the corner of my eye, usually, as I turn to look over for no reason than I can. This has been going on for some time, and it is eerie, to say the least. Sometimes when I sit down to tie my shoe or something, I will see a shadowy figure walk towards me, sometimes away from me.

The point is I see this. Now, for the discussion part, which is actually a two part sort of thing:

As I have been finding out about my family history, Paranoia runs predominantly in my father's side of the family, and I am slowly starting to see my family has it in droves (At least one my older half-brother's has to be) And my father is starting to show it, though it seems he's been showing signs for the last ten years or so, not to mention his nephew and sisters. This is merely self diagnosis at this point, as my father admits that there is nothing wrong with him.

So to my question part of it all: The one thing I can't seem to figure out is if I am slowly starting to get there or is it all just me thinking I'm losing it. I just turned 21 a month ago, don't do anything that would be classified as unhealthy, and with the exception of the few days I work by myself where these events happen, and the constant looming threat I might run into my Ex-girlfriend at work, I think I myself am just fine.

But what do you, the Escapist community think? Am I slowly becoming paranoid and should I take some kind of caution or is this merely the case of someone with way too much time their hands and is trying to make life (and his job) a little more interesting?

Also, has anyone experienced something like this at their job? Maybe hearing noises that aren't there or seeing things in the corner of your eyes?
