I got an e-mail from Amazon about new games for the PS3. One of them was called Hyperdimension Neptunia. Besides being called that, I was informed that this is what it's about:
Apparently, the developers are even American.
Now, I bring all this up for one reason. And that is that I want to get this straight: An American developer made what is ostensibly a JRPG in which you play young, large breasted, scantily clad goddesses in a metaphorical battle against the evils of piracy.
I guess that's one way to declare your stance on an issue. Though I can't see the boobies featured prominently on the cover as anything but pandering. Did anyone else find this to be... a little odd?
EDIT: Just looked into it a bit more. Idea Factory is Japanese, but it was the American branch NIS that published it (I think). So, it wasn't an American JRPG. I was just confused. Regardless, it's called bloody Hyperdimension Neptunia.
Product Description said:Hyperdimension Neptunia is an all new PS3 RPG by Idea Factory. Players will take on the role of a young goddess named Neptune. She is a personified video game console who will fight against the evil goddess, a personified version of a video game piracy device. During battle Neptune will fight in her human form or her battle goddess mode which changes her appearance, stats, and personality. Much like a computer Neptune and her fellow goddesses can be customized by finding and creating new parts.
