I have long had the opinion that the gameboy advance is a superior system to the DS, and for me its not hard to see why:
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass VS Minish Cap
Metroid: Hunters FS Fusion
Pokemon: Emerald VS Platinum.
Also, the GBA had no gimmick to rely on to sell the games, like the DS does, just 2 face buttons, a dpad, 2 shoulder buttons, and the menu buttons.

Just because a console has more up to date hardware doesnt seem to determine whether it is a better console, so i thought of something "what if nintendo went back and started making GBA games again?" i know it will never happen, but i think it would be awesome.

You have a point, but the DS does have the major advantage of having more accessible multiplayer.

Before, you had to know someone with a GBA.
Then, you had to buy a link cable.
Or, you might have the sweet wireless adapter that no one ever used.
Then, you'd have to make sure you both have the same game, and that everything was working, and that the cartridge had no dust in it.

Also, the DS has four face buttons, which is completely and totally awesome.

Personally, i leave multiplayer to the PC. As for four face buttons, as i said, I enjoyed the simplicity of the GBA. I mean personally, i own a total of about, maybe, 15 ds games. And (just counted) 31 GBA games (not counting GBC or GB original)

It's really just a matter of taste, but I will say that the GBA did reach a certain zenith of handheld consoles. The lack of face buttons, while not crippling, did make the Link to the Past port have some really wonky controls.
The games themselves were awesome, and I wish I still had my Lite, which I traded in for a DSi based on Nintendo's awful lies about how awesome the i was gonna be. The DSi does have Cave Story, however, which earns it some points in my book.

I disagree.

Gameboy Advanced(you didn't say SP) needs to keep getting new batteries.

The DS has a chargeable battery.

The DS has a built in light.

The DS folds all cool like.

The DS out preforms the GBA in graphics.

The touchscreen may be gimmicy, but it's still a nice add on.

The DS as a console is far superior to the GBA, even if you find the games of GBA better.

And I find Pokemon Black better then Emerald Green(Yes, I own both)

If they did go back, they'd probably lose money. They'd have to sale the games cheap, and it'd be to a market of people who is smaller now, while compeating with a bevy of rediculously cheap used games market.

Didnt say it would be likely that they would ever do it, and thats the big reason. As for your preferences, everyone can have their own likings, though it seems like you wanted to be contrary, since you quibbled on the fact that the original GBA didnt have a rechargeable battery and back light, even though both the SP and Micro did. As for the DS having superiority, thats opinion.

I wouldn't mind a few more DS titles that use the two screens to show a stats screen rather than trying to shoehorn in touch screen controls, but i'm not in favor of going back to the GBA days. For one, it's easy for someone with large hands like mine to hold the DS, the Advanced SP was almost impossible for me. Two, the DS has a surprisingly strong rechargeable battery for something with two bright screens. Three, the fact that the DS is reverse compatible with GBA games means that you wouldn't be abandoning the DS anyway, people could just play the new GBA titles on their DS. Developing without the touch screen gimmick is something that has been accomplished, and call me crazy but i actually like the second screen for the reason i mentioned, a constantly displaying map or statistic screen that lets me check my progress without having to pause.

And as far as console titles are concerned, again, no point. Smaller scale games made by dev teams who didn't have the resources to make a full scale title are available through the online arcades and engines like Steam, so while things aren't ideal, the idea i am assuming you have about smaller scale old fashioned games existing is happening as you read this, but i'm opposed to developing on older consoles because not all innovations were stupid. The second screen, the 360 bumpers instead of the black and white buttons, the fact that you actually can still use a Gamecube controller on some Wii games (Mind you Nintendo did take a few steps too far back by re-releasing ancient titles) are all preferable to the monstrosity of the N64 or Saturn controller.

Plus, did i mention the second screen that cured my old pet peeve of constantly having to pause to check the fucking map?

Red Spot Games [http://www.redspotgames.com/] has been producing games for the Sega Dreamcast (another long-dead console) on a regular basis for several years. I also have a buddy that develops for the NES. They exist, but not many people take them particularly seriously. It's a sad fact of life, I guess...

Notice that part where I said, "you didn't say SP". Yeah. Your points are invaludated, as I was talking about the GBA and only the GBA. None of its updates like the SP and Micro.

People still make Dreamcast games, there might be people still making GBA games too. Unfortunately cartridges are harder to work with than discs, so there'll only be a very small number if there are any at all.

Interesting idea, but I disagree its not that the DS is worse, its just that Nintendo has great ideas, then either doesn't use them to their full potential, or, totally over exploits them. The Wii and the DS go hand in hand as both great systems in their own right and links in the chain of gaming development.I agree with you in that nintendo could do with some simpler games for a while so that they can learn to use their systems properly.

This happens with arcade developers a lot. Lot's of people still use the Naomi, Cave uses their SH3 hardware, Some people use Type X ect.
