I would certainly be a little bit confused, just to begin with. Wouldn't you?
Nope. not at all.

I would drop to my knees and begin worshiping their flying spaghetti monster, it's just like ours only with more meatballs. Anything for some of that high-tech junk, we can sort gods out later.

So, I know people get annoyed about religious threads, but consider this situation:

Aliens come to Earth; they are not mean, aggresive, or anything of the sort (maybe a little sticky, but that's it). They come sporting all forms of technological goodies, and they have no qualms of mingling with us, but they have little patience for our religions--they respect them, but they annoy the heck out of them. Why? 'Cause they say their religion is the right one. Yes, they are not atheists. They believe in a creator entity and whatnot, but the explanations are a bit too much for us to properly rationalize.

Now, thse dudes traveled billions of light years to get here, have some pretty gnarly techie stuff to play with, and are, quite simply, above and beyond from where we are now both in terms of culture and development; wouldn't they know what they are talking about? Would that make anybody think twice about where they stand?

I would certainly be a little bit confused, just to begin with. Wouldn't you?
Their religion would have to make some sense for me to accept it, though if I would only be allowed to use the tech etc if I converted then I would. Personally I'd think it possible for an alien species' (maybe our own even to an extent) creator to be another alien species. I'll call this the spore theory.

So their argument effectively becomes worship my guy... trust me.... In that case my response would be: Would you kindly GTFO my solar system.

You might be interested in getting acquainted with some panspermia theories. Just out of curiosity.

It would really depend on if their religion is based on faith or proof. If they can literally show us their god I would definitely reconsider my (lack of) faith.

If they provide evidence, maybe.
But just the fact that they are technologically advanced wouldn't convince me.
Just look at ourselves.

if most of what they say makes not much sense, then i would have to break it down word for word until i can fully comprehend it and make a judgement for myself... oh plus i'd be hella stoked if i met aliens =)

Just like any other religion, I would need to see physical proof in order to truly believe in it without knowing I was fooling myself in the back of my head.
Yeah Scientific and Physical proof or it didn't/won't happen.

Bow down and obey, humble before their might. I mean I'm not religious but how stubborn and idiotic would you be to oppose and anger a possible friendly relationship between Earth and these Aliens by letting religion get in the way. I would hope the same goes for them looking at us, besides I'd be grateful that they chose such a peaceful and intelligent way to express their belief that their religion is the best. Because humans have been doing that for about two thousand and nine years now and every time we have it's played out more along the lines of:
"OUR RELIGION IS THE BEST, YOU HAVE VALUES DIFFERENT TO US SO NOW BE PURGED SINNERS!!!!"
Then a massive war and millions of lives removed from the gene pool later, and we can only look back on the situation and wonder if there was a better resolution. So yeah I say work with the aliens.

If they had some sort of proof, I'd believe it.
If not, screw them and all the others trying to convert people.

Religion is a belief you cannot KNOW your religion is the right one ...

It doesn?t matter if there the smartest people in the world religion will, and always will be unproven... (Unless of course...You know... Gods come down and shit...)

And even then those gods might lie.
You know, say "We're the only true gods" when in reality there are maybe thousands of others?
And how would we know they are gods and not just a powerful race with advanced technology?
There can never be certainty in any religion.

Be fair, I always thought that if aliens came to earth it would be a crashing tourist ship over anything else. Life over subtlty. I'd like to think other species of intelligence would think like that.

I'd probably get into a theological discussion with them if I had a chance, being a christian myself.
