Hypothetically, could you kill an innocent to save a loved one?

I'd see if I could stop the force that was threatening my loved one, first. Then consider the option of me dying instead of the loved one or the innocent.

If there are absolutely no other options, and there was reason enough for the person to die, I would kill them. If there was not enough reason, I'd consider their merits to my loved one's, and make the decision then.

In what kind of situation would killing an innocent person save a life? I guess this boils down to survival situations where u don't have enough food to feed everyone or something like that.

In general I'd say: yes.
The life of an "innocent" person I don't know or care about is several orders of magnitudes less valuable to me than the life of a person I love.
The risk of being caught by the police and spending time in prison is a relatively small price to pay for a person you really love.

I would do it, but I'd hesitate because the task of killing would be traumatic. If I had the chance to kill the assailant instead, I'd take it.

Assuming that the only way to save your loved one (parent, sibling, child, significant other etc)) was to kill someone who wasn't a criminal and presumably was a nice and decent person.
You choose if you get caught and go to jail for this.

I started pondering this due to a video game (unnamed here to avoid spoilers). Personally I couldn't because:
1) If my loved one cares for me as much as I care for them, he/she would know it would destroy me mentally.
2) It's incredibly selfish.
3) If I did, said love one would probably never look at me in the same way again.

So what about you? Did you ever have to think about the answer or was it a difficult choice?

I dont know what i´d do.I guess I´d try to save my loved ones, i guess. Then i´d turn myself in for allowing an innocent to die.But i cant know for sure.

Yes, but this would depend on the method of killing, if i could shoot him to head or other painless killing method i would do it. But if i'm supposed to stab him to death then i'm out.

I probably would, but I would justify it to myself by seeing that I was punished for it.

To me, human life is an expendable, and easily replaced, resource. So, yes, I could kill someone without a second thought. I might feel a little guilty afterwards, but I'd do it.
