Does anyone else do this? The last game i beat was gta v. I'm not sure why but for the past few years i rarely beat games I keep on starting them over.
Did this ever happen to you? Are games just boring by the end?

It used to happen to me all the time as a kid. I would get to a certain point and just stop playing. Nowadays I'm a bit more focused. Whenever I start a game my intent is to play it till the finish. I typically try to only have 1 or 2 games going at once of totally different genres. I notice if I have too many going at once I tend to just get sidetracked.

If a game outstays its welcome then it's easy to drop it and get distracted with something else. But I generally finish them.

Once upon a time I used to finish 100% of the games I started.

Now it's more like 65-70%.

Thing is, now I have more money and Steam sales have made games much cheaper much earlier. So I'm more likely to takea risk on something that turns out to be not worth the time. As a youngster I had to make the most of what games I could get since just dropping it and moving on to the next title on the list wasn't an option.

Depends on the game and the level of interest it captures. Some games like Skyrim I can't finish not because I don't find it interesting but because I'm less interested in the story and more interested in playing with the character creation tools and designing cool adventures that have nothing to do with the story itself... I use Skyrim as a mod sandbox rather than play it for story.
So about 3/4 of the games I buy get completed and the other 1/4 remain unfinished for many different reasons.

Unless it's a game with no real ending like a MMO or a fighting game. I always finish my games. If i play a singleplayer game it's for the story. And i can't get the whole story without the ending.

Haven't been enjoying any singleplayer games released recently, so lately I haven't finished any.
Even the more popular ones like GTA just felt boring after a while.
I used to get a game and play it non stop until I beat it though.
Just recently nothings held my interest long enough with the recent trend of 30 minutes of story and walking around separating each actually fun part of a game.
Most recent singleplayer game I think I actually beat was Dark Souls 1 ages ago.

I usually finish but back in the day i would struggle on regardless of whether I enjoy it that doesnt happen anymore. I give games a good shake though so if its a long RPG I will persevere for 20 hours or maybe more I have done 60 before dropping a game before because at that point I just feel its not going to hook me if it has not already or its not worth the effort.

If its an arcde type game I expect near instant gratification and if I am not having fun after an hour or so I wont continue. I do finish most games I start however although sometimes I do take breaks with them which in a few cases can be years.

I tend not to finish most my games as most of them get easy and respective far before the actually end of the game. However most data I have seen is something like only 20% of players actually finish games in general. (No its not firsthand info, so I don?t have any links but I have heard it form around 6 different game designers.)

Constantly, even when enjoying games I usually just end up stopping mid way and what not. I practically forced myself to finish GTA V and Halo 4 'cos at the point I was at I knew I would not return to them when I stopped. I do, however, replay games a lot. I've finished Halos 2, 3 and ODST several times recently, recently finished Co-Op Nightmare mode of Dead Rising 3 and revisited Call of Duty: Black Ops recently (which was quite possibly my favourite playthrough of it in its five year existence).

The last game I actually finished a game for the first time because I found myself being drawn back to it was Dying Light a month or so ago.

I refuse to let games beat me, so I finish them. (I'd describe myself as 'stupidly stubborn')
The exception is Tales of Graces, that I play at a friend's place. But that's because he hates the game more than I do (and he's the one who owns it) so we never get around to finishing it =P

I even finished Sniper: Ghost Warrior, one of the worst games I've played in my life.

I never really got into the habit of finishing games because I grew up with a Commodore 64 and most games for that were cheap, but very hard to beat. So I had over a hundred games that all required a huge time investment to beat. Much as I do now, only the games are easier but with more content.

If I'm not enjoying a game, I stop playing, because what's the point? On the other hand, if I am enjoying a game, there's a good chance I'll start right up again once I've finished it, unless it's just plain not fun to replay (e.g. most puzzle games). Looks like... Looks like I finish about 75% of the games I start? Not bad, really.

I've always been a completionist by nature, and when it comes to games I really don't play around (pun intended). I spend as long as it takes to completely finish a title, just as long as I'm super into it of course. Hell, even if it's not my favorite game I will at least play it through for an extended period of time to really see if it sucks or if I'm just being a sore loser and making excuses. On more than on occasion I've enjoyed certain titles that were deemed 'bad' just because I really gave them a chance. Add that mentality to being a pretty big trophy whore and you get a gamer who always has something to do and a game to conquer.

I feel like the best game experience is full of laughter, smiles, tears, defeat, and, of course, victory. It's pretty much the main motivator behind my completion missions. It's something that is hard to achieve through a minimal effort. Yes, it's hard. Yes, you're going to get pissed and lose sometimes. But when everything is done (especially in a lenghty JRPG with tons of formidable enemies and secret dungeons) there is just no greater sense of accomplishment for me than to know I won.

To all the users I've seen responding about not being able to finish their games, I urge you to preserver and see it through to the end. Before I got on my kick off beating everything I was in the same sized boat. I could never see my adventures all the way through without getting distracted or bored. I guess the biggest difference now is that I take whatever steps neccesary to get past the point of stuck. I'll use a guide for a quick reference, watch a youtube walkthrough for that specific point, draw maps if I'm lost. Anything really.

I guess for me it all helps up the immersion factor for any game when I conquer all that it has to offer. The way I see it, it's hard to appreciate a book if you don't read the entire story.

I complete all my games eventually, amount of time it takes obviously varies, sometimes I take breaks of up to a couple of weeks.

Back when I was still a student and unburdened by things like responsibilities, a full time job and all that jazz - I would finish most of my games.

Now I just can't be arsed a lot of the time. Shadows of Mordor is a great game but I can't be bummed to finish it. It did get repetitive and I didn't feel like wrangling anymore orcs.

I took a 1-2 month break in the middle of Pillars of Eternity before finally going bleh, time to just finish the damn thing.

No idea when I'll finish Neptunia Rebirth 2 if ever.

Time is more precious now. I need it to loaf around in bed, mull over the pointlessness of life and look at cat pictures on imgur.....

Maybe I should finish Shadows of Mordor after all.

I never know when I finish my games until the credits start rolling... even if I knew the credits were just around the last obstacle/boss/cutscene...

Other than that, I something forget that I was in the middle of playing a video game... It has been happening more often the older I get...
