I am scared of Fallout 3

The only scary parts were when I first walked into the Wasteland and kept getting blindsided by various Wasteland enemies and it startled the shit out of me each time (Perception was shite), and the Dunwich Building.

But it's not that scary. The subway tunnels can freak you out, but there's no huge problem or enemy to fight in most of them. Just carry a reliable gun with you, have high Perception, and nothing can stop or startle you.

I admit, it gets freaky at points. Example, I was playing yesterday and was roaming the wasteland looking for more landmarks. After running in a straight line for about five minutes, I think to myself that I might have missed something and turn around to a giant radscorpian that's literally right behind me. Needless to say, I was quite shocked.

but seriously, its kind of freaky because of all the weird shit that goes on. dont uninstall it though, its an awesome game. maybe add some mods, or give yourself a fucktonne of ammo and a powerful gun or `/tgm, spawn a MIRV and have fun

the game certainly can be tense, what with dark tunnels filled with ghouls, as well as the time when you first meet a deathclaw. oh and don't go to D.C. just don't do it! unless your packing more ammo then the military.

Actually, as much as I love New Vegas and Fallout 3, I believe the older titles in the series are way scarier (Fallout 2 & 1). They made you feel like a tiny insect in their world, that anything can kill you. In Fallout 3 once you hit a certain level and become powerful, which is a little easy, you lose the feeling of fear.

New Vegas brought the feeling back a bit, I think. One wrong move and your brains are all over the walls.

I have to admit, first time I went down in the metro and the screams of the feral ghouls sounded. I was genuinely terrified. (I'd never played a Fallout game before and didn't know what was making that noise).

Fallout New Vegas scares me because you never know when a giant motherfucking radscorpion is going to fuck your shit up.

Walks into Mick and Ralph's looks left, right, no it was clipped in behind Mick's secret stash. Killed both of them before I ran, and yeah. They can use doors. Scary mother fuckers. I deleted that game and never saw them outside the zones again. Still, in that one I was waiting for them to paradrop on my ass.

You know what terrifies me on Fallout 3? Feral Ghoul Reavers.

Albino Radscorpions are tough but easy to dodge, Super Mutant Overlords are just annoying to kill.

Feral Ghoul Reavers deserve a special pit in Hell. Seriously, fuck those guys. First time I fought one was when I was in the Presidential Metro. I shat bricks.

Besides that it gets quite gruesome when you actually stop and think about what the Raiders do to you if they catch you (in canon at least, in game they just kill you).

OT: Just sticking with it until you level up a fair bit usually does the trick. That's when you encounter what is known as "F.E.A.R. Syndrome".

This condition is known to render its victims completely fearless, coupled with large amounts of ammo, firearms, and armor pieces sprouting up in the effected persons inventory. Side-effects include running haphazardly into combat, not giving a shit, and having non-stop sexual intercourse with "fine bitches" while obtaining large amounts of currency.

If you mean Dunwhich building and Deathclaws then you are right. The game can be scary on occasions. After a while I am sure you will get use to it.

I started out with Fo3, but when I played the old ones I started hating Fo3, atleast the story. If it's enclave,BoS and changed weapons could go un-cannon itself I would love it =D

Well, I don't think of it as a sequel, it's just a similar game, with references to the older games. Honestly, it has nothing in common (either in story or gameplay) with FO1 or 2, and I like it that way. Having things different is nice, instead of companies using the "Call of Duty" sequel formula.

I got that too at the very beginning of Fallout when I first played it.

To be honest I was afraid to walk out of Megaton at a point...

It was mostly that fact I had no idea what to do and there was no easy run into the game, just pick your skills(but what do they do?) and then get a bit of practice shooting... and OH SHIT... this is big... and violent... and there aren't fixed supplies... and I went out... and I am running out of ammo... and... wwwwaaaaaa..... I just wanna leave.

However I started the game up again, started again and went further... then I started it again and that time I completed it! (I actually never went to point lookout or the ghoul infested pitch black Dunwich Building).

When I played New Vegas I had Fallout 3 under my belt and there was A LOT MORE DIRECTION at the beginning, and a lot less critters at the very start so they let you get your footing, and then let you wander. I eased onto that one fine.

Then I tried fallout 2 and... I actually had the same problem again xD I was a bit surprised but I was nervous again and didn't know what to do as it was a different interface.
I got over that too though... with time.

Yeah, the atmosphere of F3 doesn't help the feeling of scaredness, especially when you can hear a ghoul/deathclaw/whatever but you have no idea where it is. Best advice I can give is to just stick with it and plough on. Oh, and to go to the Dunwich Building as well, full of kittens and rainbows, that is.

400 hours and I still have a hernia every time I see a Giant Radscorpion.

150 Hours in and Albino Radscopions have hernias when they see me. And deathclaws. And reavers. Oh, and overlords. Behemoths can't cause they're dead. Mainly because im level 30, all skills 100, ive done (except 1) every possable quest, found every special weapon, every bobblehead, and cleared out the dunwhich building and old olney, and found every location.
Too bad its for the xbox so i can't get mods to make it harder.

OT: Never had that problem, probably because ive played oblivion, which i pretty much the same engine.

I just hate when fully engrossed in the game and get hit with melee from behind. Giant Radscorpions are pretty creepy up close too. I prefer looking at them from a Gauss rifle scope.

Admittedly, when you're starting out and you get gang-raped by a Feral ghoul or a Super Mutant it would be quite frightening.But when you've got Brotherhood armour on and a huge gatling laser to take out anything near, why would you be scared?

Honestly, I was a little bit scared first time I played fallout 3. It's definetly worth persevereing though because it is a fun game. Once you get to the point where you start mowing enemies down without a care in the world it stops being scary...except for the deathclaws. You might want to consider getting fallout new vegas because its much better in my opinion and it's not scary at all.

Terrible idea. I didnt know that they brought back the supermutant night thingies from the first game.

I was never scared in Fallout 3, but New Vegas almost had me shit my pants. "Ok, let me just run down this corridor here and then OH SHIT WHAT THE FUCK INVISIBLE SUPERMUTANT WITH A FLAMETHROWER? OH GOD"

Nightkin, right. Yeah I kinda forgot about those, although to be fair they only appear rarely. Anyway, they aren't that scary. They aren't too difficult to kill and when they jump you it's more of a shock than anything. The scary parts of fallout 3 were when it was dark and you could hear something growling at you but you couldn't see the damn thing. That sucked.

I think NV is bleh, too boring, Fallout 3 was action packed and still had some RPG elements. It was a nice balance.
