I'm the only PC user in my family, and not only have I fixed both my parent's Macbooks, I just removed a stuck disk from the family iMac. I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now.

I also was the only girl on the hall who brought her own toolbox to college last year. I ended up fixing a great deal of things for people.

My point is, who else in the forums is known for their "fixit" skills?

Well I have a reputation in school for being able to fix the teachers' computers.

Though I have no idea how spotting an unplugged plug is considered by them to be "fixing"

I purposely claim ignorance to any sort of technical knowledge when people I know solicit advice. Both my parents are known for their technical know how to both friends and family, and they often bemoan that status as a burden. My mom actually got to the point at work where she was spending so much time helping people with technical problems, she fell behind on her actual work. I would advise anyone not to become the "techy" person in an office setting.

I've built (from pieces) and maintained all four desktop computers that my family uses, and I repair vehicles for a living.

I can fix anything.

And just when I finally think I have something to feel good about, you go and say something like that. You win, good sir.

I'm good at fixing weird things. I can fix ventilation stuff, or make pretty much anything people would need out of sheet metal (assuming I have the bench press machine to bend it up and so on).

Would it help if I told you that I break things? Or that I only work on Mazdas? I'm not here to make people feel bad, you see.

OH! I KNOW! I'm a virgin!

...

No, no, it's okay. I'll just sit here and try to come up with something else I'm good at.

I'm renowned for my ability to jury-rig and modify things; I spent a lot of summers on my grandparents farm, and learned a lot from my grandpa, and it's held me in good stead over the years.

Stuff like adapting the warm-air intake on a Ford Taurus to a cold-air intake isn't much, unless you have to do it without an aftermarket kit, meaning you don't have all the fancy mandrel-bent tubing, or the adapters. Mind you, it can be done. I've also had to repair a friends' chimney with some scrap galvalume metal and some mastic caulking, so that it wouldn't leak.

I have very good 'fixit' skills, I can work on everything from electrical, plumbing, drywall, wood working, masonry, upholstery and I'm pretty good at painting (and I don't even use tape!)

I am not good at welding however, and I haven't ever done carpeting, but I have laid a fair amount of tile.

I'm really good a googling stuff, funny how most people don't know how to do that. Now if something takes actual talent, ask someone else.

I'm a girl who can fix my own car (basic things mind you, I can't do any body work), has basic carpentry skills, and can sew. I'm sure I can fix a good deal of shit. Oh, I can patch up a wall.
