Glass and liquor. Worst mistake of my life.
Also a very logical combination. Unless we're talking window glass.

You can play FPS games by letting someone else take care of the mouse/movement. Me and a friend did this with HL: Opposing Force. Loads of fun.

Buy the entire boxset of The X-Files and binge on it. It might not last three months, depending on your viewing habits.

...I really need to stop shilling The X-Files onto everyone, it's an unhealthy obsession.

Books and Films would be a good way to pass the time. In fact, for some reason the past 2 weeks I haven't really played any games at all since i've gotten a little bored of my current games and i've just been reading and watching films.

So yes, those things. Do them!

When my left hand was in a cast I pretty much played nothing but RTSs all day (Warcraft 3, Stronghold etc). Or just play what doesn't require that much effort on your part. Games like Syberia are basically clickety-click + lots of dialogue to listen to.

Seconded. If you start watching the show from the beginning those months will just fly by.

So, I ask, what's the best way to pass this time without being able to use a console controller or mouse?

I was thinking about buying DS games and then using an emulator copy, so I could play one-handed. Any words on the legality of this?
Better yourself and read some books.

Or if you must game you could try the Civ games or many 0f the flash games online.

Damn, I just finished Season 4 a couple of days and I've been working my way through it all for about 6 months now.
Although I suppose I've not lost the use of one hand and thus been often taken up with other activities.

But seriously, an X-Files binge is a great idea!

When I broke my right wrist pretty badly in HS, I beat Xenogears with just my left hand. So I'd recommend any turn based RPG.

Strategy games, turn based or real time, point and click adventures, you could manage games like Diablo and Torchlight, some puzzle games.

Or just take up movies and reading as an alternative altogether.

Play online games that don't need many buttons. Something like Bejewled or Plants vs zombies or something.

Go with turn-based games. Civilization, a lot of RPGs, and... whatever else there is.

I remember Bayonetta had a one-handed option.

It took me about 10 months to finish all 9 seasons and both movies but it would be a great way to spend time if one cannot play games, which was a luxury I was still afforded during those 10 months.

Learn a new language? You could have no hands at all and still do well pretty well. So long as you have someone to operate the cd player.

Watch TV and movies in stead. If you have to play games, tro computer games that only requires a mouse and learn to use your other hand.
