They're similar and often overlap, but there is a very definite difference.

Thank you for posting this because now I don't have to. My favourite anime movie fight scenes are in this movie.
For anyone who might consider watching the movie, it is a bit formulaic, but the fight scenes alone make it worth watching, and seeing Nanashi (main character) pull out his blade for the final battle was amazingly awesome. Though, I spent the whole movie worrying if Tobimaru (the dog) would end up dying.

To avoid being a pointless post I'll put this here too.
Just to show how entertaining a fight where the main character never even uses his sword can be.

To prevent this accidental double post from being a complete waste, here's my favourite shonen anime fight (I don't watch alot of shonen).
From Saint Seiya, Dragon Shiryu vs. Cancer Deathmask. It's in Italian due to it being the only video I could find that wasn't an AMV. It's missing a ton of context, but with that context it's awesome.

Actully if you will count games then Blazblue: Calamity trigger had a pretty awesome true ending series of fights made using mods on PC. Not as cool as an actual anime but if you have played Blazblue then watching this fight is pretty awesome, especially Ragna vs Hakumen.

I rewatched this series over the last weeks. This part was so amazing, Wally West is one of the best written comic relief characters I saw in serious animated series. I also loved his epic battle against the Trixter later in the series.

For xmas my brother got me the entire Justice League/JL Unlimited DVD box set (one of the best gifts ever) so I too have been watching it again. Still surprised they were able to make a Justice League cartoon that not only translated so well from their previous animated series of Batman and Superman, but that it never got bogged down in a continuity clusterfuck as DC is apt to fall into.

And yes, the Wally West they made in this show is still the definitive version of The Flash in my mind.

Best cartoon of last decade, IMO
