In the UK (and I understand this originated in the US) there is a programme called Wipeout. It's basically putting a bunch of loons and embarrisingly ethusiastic muppets in a crazy assault course in Argentina that ends in "the Wipeout Zone", which is an incredibly difficult course with a lot of falling and water.

It's good fun to watch, cus the people are pretty weird and everyone has a good laugh. No bloody sob stories like the talent shows and no fecking voting.

However

Occasionally (quite a lot) people do stupid things on the assault course and get completley knocked off/out/into mud. Other times, they all seem to be making if difficult for themselves by not doing something really simple. Now, mabye there are rules they are told before the filming, but I reckon that, if I was in that assault course, I could get through easier. Mabye not faster than the athletic guys, but I could make it easier for myself with a tad of logic and no flustering.

Is there anything you've ever seen someone do, it could be very difficult or just plain dull, that you reckon you could do better than them?

WIPEOUT IS RIPPING OFF TAKESHI'S CASTLE!

There. I said it. Moving on.

Sweden has a version of Wipeout, and yes, I think I'd do better on that course than some of the people on there.

However, there is not a braincell in my head that thinks I could win Takeshi's Castle.

Takeshi's Castle is hardcore, man.

Let's quote wikipedia about it, shall we?

Wikipedia said:
While very popular, the challenges were not free of risk, and injuries were not uncommon. During the show's runtime, 9 participants got knocked out, 35 participants got a concussion, 276 participants were winded, and in total there were 41 broken ribs, 19 broken jaws, 312 bruised chins, 282 bruised shins, 112 black eyes, 62 torns muscles and 2 fractured skulls.

Hmmmmm... Naaaawww! We have Wipeout in sweden too, and while some people think it's fun to watch stupid people doing stupid stuff (I don't) I don't I think I would do much better than they do. Honestly; I've learned the hard way how "Murphy's Law" works.

This. Ive seen some of the challenges like rollers and the football on the bridge and I know I couldnt do them. The final battle always looked really easy to me though

I wouldn't want to try taking on Beat Takeshi, if I ever got to the final stage (to be honest I wouldn't get past the first) I think I would just bow graciously and accept my inevitable demise.

The final battle looks like a cop-out to me. They get in confusing dodgems, get attacked by better-armed dodgems (there's a sentence I've never used before) AND LOOSE

Also, yes, I considered calling Wipeout the 'Western Takeshi', but then I thought of all the beach games and random volleyball in Takeshi and realised that Takeshi is in a league of it's own

Plenty of things, why I'm not so popular at work when I wonder over and tell people with have these new things called computers with shiny blinky lights that can do what you spend three days doing every month for the past nine years in five minutes.

In fact the other day I devised a system, a linked series of web forms and scripts, that could do pretty much my entire job....keeping that one to myself..

I love that show.

I am of the same opinion, I'm sure I could do it faster than 99% of people, mainly because the slowest bit involves swimming (which i'm exceedingly good at).

I'm sure they pick out a whole lot of... special... people for the highlights though.
