Grim Fandango.
Now that I have your attention, I need some help making this run on my computer. I'm operating on Windows XP, with an AMD 3000 dual core, and 2 GB of ram. I've installed the game just fine with DaemonTools, and it seems to run okay, until the end of the introductory cutscene. I suppose this is where you're supposed to take control of Manny, but all that happens to me is the game crashes, and I get one of the useless "Send Error Report?" messages.
I've tried the usual solutions, uninstall/reinstall, run in compatibility mode for 95, 98, AND even ME (forgive me). I even trawled a few warez sites to get Direct X 6.0 and DOWNGRADED my computer, which was an experience I'd like to avoid repeating.
Same problem kept happening, and I'm out of ideas.
I'd really like to play this game, I have fond, nostalgic memories of it, and I'd hate to be thwarted by simply having upgraded my computer.
