I dare everyone to listen to this song and not shed a single tear.

Naahhh. Not all that sad, really. I feel absolutely nothing from this song, but then again, I could just be repressing something. I usually am.

The song was so terrible I couldn't stand to listen to it so I just looked up the lyrics, and I go nothing. Why am I suppose to feel sad? Because he had a tough life and killed his mother and felt bad about it afterwards? Gee why not think about that beforehand. Almost all of it was his choice. He could of chose differently but didn't. I might feel bad if it was a tough decision, but the stuff he did was just plain stupid and he got to deal with the consequences.

He's the kind of song that makes me cry:

I've heard it over 100 times and I still tear up every time.
You know you basically just said that a kid's first pet dying is more tragic than the situation of black people living in ghettos struggling to survive. I can't really explain in words how fucked up that is.

Even if you don't like hip-hop you have to listen to this song. It is one of the only songs that has ever had me speechless after first hearing it. Its such a tragic story and I find myself on the verge of tears at the end of it. Its just that powerful of a song and this is what real hip-hop should be not all that shit about swag and partying, but real shit that has a message.
Not a single Tear, didn't sound too terribly emotional to me.
Though, I'm sure the story could be re-worded in a different style to make it powerful.
It's just that the story is disrupted by the presentation and the diction.

Y'know what makes me cry without fail.
The actual scene it plays during is even more of a tearjerker, and there are a near infinite number of situations I imagine when I hear this song that make me cry even more.

And then of course, there's the song playing in The Company of Myself, which even talking about causes me to fall into a miniature depression...

I have to go cry uncontrollably now, for the sake of Jack, left forever alone with not a soul to which he could tell his story.

Not a tear, not a care, not a good song. Very repetitive, it's not even sad. The only sad thing is that the music in the background deserves better.

Go listen to Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise". It's pretty much the same topic, but much better, as a previous poster said.

First of all why does he owe black people anything? Has he personally oppressed any minorities? I highly doubt it. Being white does not make you guilty. Grow up.

Secondly I enjoyed the song, it was entertaining. I wouldn't go so far as to shed a tear but I can understand why it makes you so sad.
He may have not knowingly oppressed any minorities, but just by being white he has an advantage over them. You have to realize that racism in America is a systemic problem and everyone who contributes to that system is guilty. He may not personally oppress any minorities, but the fact that he doesn't even try to see it from their point of view makes him a part of the problem. Don't try to tell me that you or he doesn't see color because that's bullshit everyone sees color and saying you don't is just a lie. Its a way for white people to hold onto to their white privilege without feeling bad about it.

I'm crying, not because this song is emotionally moving, but because my ears are in severe pain right now.

Heard it before. No tears then or now. I enjoy IT, but seriously.

What are you, five? What part of his post made you think that he "doesn't even try to see it from their point of view"?

I'm playing the rap game on easy,
posting my lyrics on websites to increase my insight,
pity it ended with some dick who tried to rap an insult because your music is repetitive, boring and has about tear-jerking potential as a broken steel bar outside of a smelting yard.

And...yea, successful advertising requires a product that people might want to buy, not this shit.

How about the fact that he put about as much thought into his response as he would to what he would have for dinner tomorrow night? But honestly I'm done trying to convince you people of anything because clearly you won't listen because you're too privileged.

When I listen to this one, I leaned forward, placed my face in my hand... and started massaging the bridge of my nose.
I have a headache, and I, like the gentleman above would like my minutes refunded.

He rapes his mum, jumps off of a roof and a moral punchline about dancing with the devil

EDIT:

This gem came up while I was listening to it.

Don't normally post on the forum, but what you just said was so goddamn stupid you should be shot.

On topic, the song's not that sad. The lyrics aren't what make a song sad so much as the melody and the voice of the singer. Not to mention Immortal Technique bent that piano piece over the table and raped the crap out of it.
We don't have a like button, but if we had, I would press it dramatically at your post.

God damn you are dumb. So you're saying that for being born white he should be looked down upon for something he didn't do?

This is a sad song how? I'm more likely to cry over a Cannibal Corpse song. Am I supposed to feel sorry for a guy who raped his own mother?

The only Immortal that brings tears to my eyes is Immortal. And it's wonderous tears of joy.

I must of missed the struggling to survive part because I missed any part that included getting a job or financial aid. Unless you mean the selling drugs, but it didn't seem liek he was buying food with that money. Also I do care more about a dog then a druggie murder.
