Playing through the lackluster F.3.A.R. on single player and witnessing the Point Man Ending solidified my fondness of Alma.

Skip a little to avoid the boss battle.
Sure, she was a monster with way to much physic power, but she was also very endearing, especially in the first game.
Despite all the hurt she has been put through she still finds it in herself to warn and sometimes save her child (Point Man) from impeding danger.
I found her presence though the unknown transmitions at one point of the game (F.E.A.R. 1) to be comforting rather than a sign of tense terror and terrible tension, like a guardian angle watching over me.
I think that the "scary" moment when you sight Alma is really just her attempt to contact you, to have a reunion her son who she thought lost, it really is sad when you think about it.
So what are your opinions on Alma.
