I know what racism is, i'm not a complete moron.
I was merely asking in my own special way, why people are racist today.
And it's origins.

Racism is a non-existent parody of hatred. Racism doesn't exist because it's humans finding reasons to hate other humans, which if I remember correctly is once race as a whole. Therefore, the proper term is "species-ism" a term invented on the spot to explain hatred based on subspecies specific traits. Therefore, anyone who says something is racist is just as stupid as a person who claims to be a racist. Now, if you want to be a racist, I suggest you spout your vitriol at those filthy Quarian starbacks.

I think that the reason people are racist is because of, stereotypical enough, insecurity. People are drawn to forming groups that they identify with and bash on other groups (countries having stupid wars for no reason, shia vs sunni muslims, white vs black, white vs Asian, white vs Arabic. The list goes on. Blacks, Arabic and Asians aren't any better of course.) The easiest way of doing that is going by differences in looks, language, nationality,sexual preferences religion, or culture. It kinda goes like this: "I know I'm not perfect, but at least I'm better than the *insert demographic here*.

It's a natural animal instinct to try to smash everything that's not you.

But we are the human race, whether you're black or white.
Or maybe that's the problem people see.
Oh and our 'instinct' can be overcome, for example we condition ourselves to hold on to hot plates.

The problem with that is that mostly stereotype-ism is unconscious, you can't condition yourself to stop doing something you don't know you are doing. If I may explain the reason behind stereotypes, stereotypes happen because we are a intelligent species, that meaning that we learn faster and better than other animals, we tend to assign certain traits to people we see daily but don't know on a personal level, and those are usually wrong.
Although, the more aggressive racism, like the one on dark people and Muslims stem more from the media(Fox news and the such).

It all comes from way back when the 'civilised' white man 'found' the 'uncivilised' black man and taught him how to live etc. Since then it's been drilled into SOME peoples heads that white people are superior to black people. (At least that's the case with white on black racism.)

Ironically, by any logical stretch of the imagination, the 'superiority' thing is precisely what the original 'civilisation' exercise was trying to alleviate. Were the original colonists that pessimistic that they never thought they'd succeed in their arrogant little venture?

You seem to ignore the fact that there are other variable than ethnicity like for example that most African countries lack good school systems and that pregnant women don't have a good nutrition during pregnancy, which if you are willing to do the research on google you will find that that has a great impact on the possible intellect of the child. The proof I have is that black people who grew up in a environment that is as good as you average engineer they will be as smart as them.

My two cents:

Racism is an evolutionary instinct that was essential to our survival. The concept of distrust of people outside your personal niche was perfectly reasonable back in the time when the next tribe over what just as likely to kill your children and enslave your women as they were to say hello. Infanticide and full on genocide was common place in the ancient world and people had to be racist to survive.

Tribes became nations, skirmishes over cattle became wars but the concept remained the same. If you as a people wanted to survive and thrive a general distrust and dislike of those different from you, and an ability to channel that feeling into the ability to fight or enslave people, was essential to a nation or people growth. Remember: Rome was a fascist state.

Racism is also a useful political tool. Various governments wishing to control or distract a population would target the outsider and this usually resulted in another race. Another race outside of the country was ok but one inside the country is even more useful when your economy is failing, your trying to clamp down on civil liberties or you're trying to unite the unwashed masses (Nazi Germany, Mugabe in Zimbabwe, Jewish Pogroms, the Spanish Inquisition, the crusades).

I kinda feel anyone who doesn't understand why people are racist probably hasn't looked at it very hard because historically, culturally and politically it pretty easy to "get".

comes from genetics you are a set of genes and all species that survive have a series of genes saying make all your genes prosper. this simply put is the self preservation instinct. This extends to your family and is why those bonds are so instinctive your sisters genes will be 99.9% the same this gets lessened relationships become more distant. although the difference between a black and white person are insignificant (increased melanin production and a tenancy to deal with aids better.) it seems significant the mind tells you that he has less genes in common with you and therefore is less protected by the protect your genes instinct as his are different(and hence worse. he is however human so is directly competing against you so unlike a rabbit who's life does not affect yours he is competition and so they must be destroyed as it hinders the multiplication of your own genes
