It's addictive the way anything else in the world is: you get into the routine of Tweeting, tell yourself 'okay, one more Tweet, then I've got to get some work done' and you keep telling yourself that for hours and hours.
Cell phones, smart phones, in particular, are good ways to be socially connected, allowing you to stay on them all day.
You talk to your friends mostly or followers, if you're famous enough.
Mostly you just really do talk about what you're doing. Things can get really heated if you Tweet a strange thought that pops into your head that can get bounced off of other people and turned into a real conversation, nonsensical or otherwise.
Mostly, you Tweet with friends, as mentioned before. If you're, say, Charlie Sheen, then lots of people care about every little thought of tiger blood the jumps into your head. This world is made of many people, my friend, and with social networks, you never know who's going to Tweet you or follow you.
To sum it all up, it's a bit like texting, only it's Tweeting. Pretty unnecessary, if you ask me.
