So I got this step son, he is like 9 or whatever. He always wants to play games that are just to complicated for him, and I am wondering how much I should help. The games in question are like Skyrim and Minecraft. You know very complicated games. Both of which I had to look up how to play and what I should be doing, he expects to just pick up and play. I am just trying to figure out how much to help him with them.

With Skyrim, I don't really want him playing because it is rated M, but you really have to look for the mature content, and he doesn't even know how to follow quests. So I am hoping he just gets frustared enough that he quits asking to play.

Now minecraft on the other hand I am fine with him playing. But it is such a sandbox I don't even know where to begin to help him. Plus I just feel like part of the fun of the game is learning how to play it.

Anyone else have any similar experiences or thoughts?

****Note, it is minecraft on the computer, are the controls any easier on the Xbox?

I've seen five year olds play Minecraft. They even use it as a teaching-tool in certain schools. Just let him play it as he wants to? That's the entire point of Minecraft - You can't plat it WRONG.

You can play it wrong when you press the wrong buttons. So just trying to get him to do that right is a hassle. But I agree once he learns that though, it is his digital Legos. But now that I think about it, he just wants the Lego guys and rarely plays with the Legos.
