Sounds like you were being a bit of a dick, but it doesn't excuse what he did.

Neither of you come out of that story very well.

I don't think it's a regional thing. I live many thousands of kilometres from California, and I've had apartments in both the city and the countryside... in my experience, it's like this anywhere, at least during certain hours of the day.
And no, people haven't changed when it comes to driving, and are not likely to. We have fancier toys than those folks a few decades ago, but the way we play is the same. :p
Well I hear drivers in USA's mid-west are fairly courteous. I didn't notice when I lived there, though I may have been too young to take note of it.

I guess all of us in the back of our heads are thinking "I'm in an SUV/Hummer/Semi-Truck/Yacht with wheels! I'm indestructible !" or "I'm driving an RX8/Corvette/Ferrari! I can dodge anything!" I guess we just don't ask the question, "What happens when an 'unstoppable' force hits an 'immovable' object?"
I don't actually have that voice in my head (which sometimes makes me feel like a rarity on the road). I mean, yeah, when I've had a crappy day and then I'm held up in traffic for some reason, I do get angry; but that's one of the main things that sets us apart from animals: impulse control. It's why (if you're acquainted with the rules of conduct in society) don't honk at the pedestrian and make gestures at them.

As for the Dark Knight question:

Bottom line: No such thing as the question proposes. One party will eventually give. :p
Yes. Impulse control. Maybe I shouldn't have described it as "voices in head" but more as urges that for some reason, come out when we get into a half ton, moving hunk of metal.

I agree that one party will give eventually, that's why I put "immovable" and "unstoppable" in quotes. One of them or both will get totaled.

As for the OP, I recall that the only reason to use the horn is to avoid an accident. So unless the person in front of you braked hard enough that you were about to rear end him, it doesn't seem justified. Also, bottom line, pedestrians have the right of way.

Patience is a virtue mate. Driving isn't supposed to be a race to get where you want to be, but rather a pleasant experience where you can be relaxed and enjoy your life.

You deserved it, he did a nice gesture and you were an asshole about it to him. You deserved it. If you do not respect the friendly gestures of others why the fuck do you assume they respect you.

You were an impatient ass there, you deserved it, think twice next time.

But about the world, yes I am sick also living on this planet, in my opinion living is pointless there is nothing important in it to the universe, it had a beginning and will have an ending, it will function regardless the fact that there is molecules that are able to construct "organic" matter that was by accident able to form a "intelligent" being.

You seriously honked to a driver in front of you for only letting a pedestrian walk across?

If someone angrily yelling and walking towards you (because you were, by all accounts, a bit of a dick) makes you want to leave Israel, then God help you if a someone were to throw a rock at your car (or a rocket from Gaza).

Seriously, out all the reasons why someone could want to flee Israel... melodramatic isn't the word. It's like someone wanting to leave Somalia because they were short changed by a shopkeeper.

Um...didn't you start this nonsense by showing your anger at another driver for not running over a pedestrian?

I guess by "almost attacked," you mean that someone very nearly kicked your car with a sandal. Why are we so spoonfed that we take to the internet to spread our hyperbolic melodrama anytime someone slights us?
a)The way i acted was retarded that is true.
b)He DID kick my car, hard, and if i had not drove away when i did he could have done more.

the point i am trying to make (not doing a very good job at it) is that i am amazed that it has become normal for some to assault you for waving your hand- that is what i did btw not "flipped him off" as more the one person described it.

A lot of the posters say i deserve it because provoked him. this is a grown man we are talking about not the neighbor's dog
Well, not to pick on you as I'm sure that's happening enough in this thread, but if you had made that clear from the start it would've made things easier. Flipping someone off is the universal sign for "You can fuck off, and I don't care what it means for me that I'm telling you this."
