"So, why don't you agree with x?"
"Because God wouldn't want me to, it's wrong and people who do it will go to hell."
"I see. Now...is there any proof that it's wrong?"
"Yes, there's a passage or two clearly stating it in the bible."
"No, not from the bible. I mean, has there been any scientific study to validate that it isn't a sound concept?"
"It's in the bible and that should be reason enough."
"I see."

Whenever this happens.
Replace "x" with the subject of your choice.
I think when I had this conversation the individual was complaining about homosexuals.
Humanity is capable of great things, ignorance and close-mindedness not being among them.

At work the other night. I work in an Emergency Department as a paramedic. We had a little kid that was pretty sick. His mother was taking duck face photos of herself with her fucking iPhone. I just wanted to smack her. She wasn't even paying attention to her kid.

I'm supposed to be in that phase now, but cynicism hardens you quite a bit.

And no; I'll take my own path to enlightenment. Thanks for the offer though. :-D

The closest it has gotten though, is when I see people bullying or teasing other people. Drives me up the wall.

Several times a day and from many things, but they all stem from one thing, the incredible ignorance and selfishness of the average human being. It's sickening. It doesn't just make you wonder if we deserve to be here. It shows you how much we don't. Still, I guess I don't particularly dislike the planet though, this planet is great. It's the people on it that I can't stand.

Ugh never. Sure some stuff is really annoying but seriously, leaving Earth (somehow, do people have friends in NASA?) just because something kind of made you rage or depressed is just too dramatic and nonsensical and I ADORE needless melodrama usually.

I get what people mean when they use it but it's just too over the top and ridiculous.

The whole point of that episode is that youre supposed to try to understand things from the other person's perspective because what might seem ridiculous and foreign to you might actually be a way of life for others (and also that ham and pinapple pizza is awful..which it is). People who use that meme are usually the best examples of why that meme was made.

Seriously, that's it. Fuck people who do that.
while not necessarily just that, but anytime someone goes so low to use any sort of lie/deception to get their way

to add on to your example:

"i'll just tell them you're a cheating asshole and turn everyone against you" (had this one used against me, she was almost effective in it but she stupidly sent it as a text so i saved it and unleashed the fury later on)

just..i hate how ignorantly selfish some people can be when they completely twist and use people's good will and benefit of the doubt moments to get their way/get ahead. fucking makes me sick to my stomach that they can be so low and actively be a waste of space and time.

You know I don't think anyone could have said it better. Thanks Daystar, you do bring light to a dark world of ignorance.
It's true.

Open you brain holes and let me fill them with my waters of sparkling knowledge.
Leave it too open for too long and all the other stuff will fall in.

Never? I like this planet. I like its distance from the sun, its oxygen containing atmosphere, the ready availability of water on its surface, and the complex biosphere on it that is a direct result of the former components. One could almost say it's as if the very sum of my being was meant for this planet. Now those other planets (Venus, Mars, Jupiter, etc.), I don't trust them. They look like they come from bad neighborhoods. If I HAD to not live on this planet anymore, I'd probably look for one in the newspaper listings with similar qualities.

I actually love living on this planet. Until there's a better one available, where pizza grows from the trees and the rivers are made of strawberry milk, (with no adverse health effects, of course), I'm perfectly fine with this one.

None, really. It takes all sorts, after all.

We all have things we don't approve of, but to claim that a given dislike is cause for disassociation from the human race is hyperbole at best and pretentious arrogance at worst.

My automatic response to "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" is to think "Well f*ck off then, no-one's trying to stop you".

On a similar note, my ultra-conservative neighbor. He thinks it's a great idea to invest in AIG, discounting the fact that the company already tanked the economy once, requiring a bailout from the government and is still in recovery, having squandered the billions we gave them. After a while I just nod my head and block out the words coming out of his mouth until I can get a chance to walk away.

I'd have to go with nothing. Its odd how some people seem to start wishing for humanity to be extinct because of some random shit people say on the internet yet if you were to talk about the purges carried out by Stalin or the Holocaust they'd hardly even care.

Pretty much everything I would have to say about it. Honestly I'm one of those rare people who believe that today is the best time to live in the world and that tomorrow will only be better.

I would've thought, y'know, actual rapists would inspire more anger. People who threaten to say they were raped are terrible people, but not as bad as actual rapists.

Anyway, nothing. I just sigh and don't really dwell on it. Misanthropy is boring.

Well today...THIS [http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/racist-thugs-beat-up-metrolink-1750381] made me think I don't want to live on this planet any more.

It really makes me sad that something like that can happen. If you didn't read the link then in a nutshell, A man was racially abused and then attacked on the Metro tram in Manchester. Bad yes, but what's even worse is that the tram was full of people at the time and they all saw what was happening but no one did a thing to stop it.
