...Because Ghostbusters wasn't really that good. Just wasn't my thing.

Watched it about a year ago, I was excited cause I heard all good things and man was I disappointed. I mean it's okay. I certainly don't see what all the fuss is about, Bill Murray has done better work.

A lot of stuff from the 80's just doesn't hold up very well with time. Robocop is one of the sole exceptions (the original, never saw the remake, heard it was dumb), although I'm not sure if it so much held up as a movie or just predicted the future of Detroit.

When I first read the title I thought this was about you surgically removing your eyes. I was wrong.

I've never seen a film with Melissa McCarthy. I'm also not planning to. But I agree, the original is kinda meh when viewed today.

Mmm, yeah, Ghostbusters bored me when I watched it. I was just a kid, so I guess it could be more my thing now, but I doubt it.
It didn't really hold my interest.

There's quite a few movies people consider epic that I can't stand (*cough*THE MATRIX*cough*).
If I had the money I'd probably go see the new one, just to throw money at something that annoyed a bunch of nerd dudes.
I'm not petty.

Well no one is forcing you to go watch the reboot now aren't they?

Wait, don't you have men in suits next to you who hold you at gunpoint and tell you which movies to watch? I'm pretty sure they are from some sort of government agency. At least mine are - they did show me a badge (I think). I'll just go ahead and tell them to call the head office and let them know you've been missed.

...Okay then.

I'm not going to see it because it looks like complete and utter dogshit.

Also, because there's women in it, dumb, DUMB women.

Well then I've got good news for you: the new reboot has a sense of humour that has absolutely no connection to that of the original.

The original is loved not because of the concept of four guys hunting ghosts, it's because it was Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in a comedy hunting ghosts.

The new movie doesn't use anything reflecting the sense of humour the originals did, instead opting for the more generic "this is literally every modern comedy" type of humour. It's the reason why the reception has been near universally negative by fans and general audiences.

I'll go see it, schedule permitting. I haven't been to the theater to see a comedy since Wedding Crashers. Like the great sandbox game, I haven't been desensitized to modern comedies in general.

And, well, despite literally growing up watching the original, the excreablr yet somehow fun sequel, and the cartoon; I've got no inherent hate for this going in.

Well, that and anything the Internet hates so fervently must have something going for it. Same situation got me into several infamous kids cartoons I really enjoyed.

I'm not seeing it because the props look terrible, there's no chemistry between the actresses as far as I can tell, and McCarthy... sweet Jesus Christ, McCarthy. That woman is where comedy goes to die.

All that being said, did you really start a thread just to shit on Ghostbusters (The Original)?

I wont be going out of my way to see ot but if a friend has a copy I'll check it out and see if its any good. I've yet to find anything indicating that it makes a good Ghostbusters movie. Which is not surprising, Murry, Ackroid etc gelled together so well it'd be friggen hard if not impossible to find other actors whom could pull it off.

Nerd dudes? Are these the people whom have legitimate complaints your referring to or did I miss something?

I was worried this was just a thread about someone complaining about the existence of something and I was gonna say "You know you don't have to watch it". I'm glad that this isn't this type of thread.

Honestly, I agree; the Original Ghostbusters isn't that entertaining. It has its moments, sure, but overall it's a very bland movie. I feel the same way with a lot of Don Bluth's films, that there is some good things in them, but overall the movies are boring. It might be because I was born in '93, and thus didn't grow up with these films that I find them boring compared to other people who grew up with them. I honestly just think they're overall lackluster.

I might not see this movie because I don't think it can top Spy... Sorry, Hemsworth, but I don't think you'll give me life the same way Statham did in Spy... Then again, if I'm watching it with a friend and/or invited to watch it, I ain't gonna complain and shit...

Other than that, I think I laughed just a bit more while re-watching Ghostbusters 2 alongside the OG Ghostbusters...

Same here.

Watched it for the first time a couple of years ago.

Utterly unimpressed. It had a few good jokes but that was it. I can't even remember what the jokes were, I just remember remembering that they were there.

A rectal exam is a rectal exam, whether they only use the 2 foot scope to check the entrance, or literally go the whole 9 yards.

Having been down that road, I beg to differ.

But honestly, I'd rather read how the original wasn't good than more of the complaining that started before we had any information about the movie at all.

I don't know I'd call it epic, it's a severely flawed film franchise in many ways but...

I mean, Agent Smith, right?

I get bored. Felt like doing a click bait and switch thread for the lulz.

Though it's true. I absolutely don't get why the original is so treasured, nor do I truly understand the outrage of the all lady ghostbusters. Both look like equally unfunny films. It's the third side of this story I don't see represented anywhere, those of us that didn't like Ghostbusters in the first place and are kinda annoyed that its a preconceived notion that everyone is just going to go to it.

Cast Sarah Silverman, I said. She's marvelous woman, were all very fond of her, very free spirited, I said. but nooooo...
