What makes me feel old is nostalgia. I have been following the thread about British TV shows when we were kids. God it was a while ago but I remember it so clearly. And that is something old people say. Wahhh ;_; I'm going to lose hair and get wrinkles soon.

Why is it that kids name drop old shit that they got second hand, 15-20 years after it's time, and then "feel old." ?

You know what also irks me, kids who say they've been gaming since they were practically inside the womb.

I didn't start gaming until I was 10, because only "rich" kids had nintendo and computers and crap. So you might say I've only been gaming 18 years, while someone who is 20 might say the same damn thing.

You know what makes me feel old? When 19 year olds say they feel old... that and being grouchy and easily irritated.

No need to angry at me, I never said I was gaming that long, matter of fact, I think I started when I was about 7, so that'd be around 12 years. I never said anything about having been gaming longer than you. It just makes me feel old remembering what I played about 12 years ago.

What things make you feel old? Sayings, films, games, references no-one else seem to get, music, whatever.

For me, it's my usage of the words "dude" and "cool". It's like I'm a nineties sitcom cliche...

Ah, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I felt like I was 40 around the time I hit 16. The fact that I had long hair and a fairly strong salt-and-pepper goatee at the time and a teacher thought I was some random trespassing on school grounds before she recognized me didn't help much.
When I was 19 I started tossing 8-14 year-olds dirty looks for daring to be so young and energetic.
Now that I'm 21, I sometimes catch myself listening to some of my younger friend's whining and thinking "God, I'm pretty sure I was never that young and stupid." Then I remember that, yes I was.

I was pretty sequestered from pop-culture as a child, so I think I'm missing out on this feeling because of that.

I think some people are confusing "old" with "patronizing" or "condescending."

Thinking you're more mature than other people because of your taste in entertainment or perceived intelligence, then using that to look down on people is very...immature. I don't think I grew out of that myself until college.

I remember playing the first Mortal Kombat and seriously thinking at the time that its graphics were so good that the guys looked real. I remember the Die Hard arcade cabinet. I remember pinball machines and failing miserably at them. I remember arcades. And I remember Goldeneye, DK64 and Twisted Metal, the first multiplayer games I ever tried. Times were good back then.

Man, I really miss arcades, luckily there's one or two around here.
