I have a mild disorder that dulls any empathy I might feel.

BUT I TRY, DAMMIT!

That said, I desperately try to empathize with anyone who's undergoing any suffering worth mentioning, but I only feel truly "sorry" for people when they've simply not had any luck whatsoever in life.

From the movie Snatch:

*Turkish, Tommy and Mickey stand at the smouldering wreckage of the trailer that Mickey's mum got burned to death inside of*

Turkish: "Oh, geez Mickey. Im sorry."

Mickey: "Did you do it?"

Turkish: "Wha... No!"

Mickey: "Then what are ye sorry for?"

This pretty much sums up my view of feeling sorry about anything at all...

I do not feel pity towards others, I only feel slightly awkward being in the room...

OT: I always feel sorry for that one, stupid, obnoxious, dick who always gets bullied (and generally cries a lot) at my school. Even though I hate the guy.

I hate animal cruelty and who ever causes it to happen should be strung up from a lampost for all to see!!

I mean like the slow loris is possibly one of the cutest animals i have ever seen and it is hunted to near extinction because they use it's eyes for medicine in china i think. Also read something that in the philipines they found a whole bunch of them in rusty cages dead! just makes me feel sad and yet angry at the same time.

here's a video to show you just how damn cute this animal is!!

I feel sad at stuff as much as the next guy, but i easily build up immunities.

When i was 13 i had nightmares about the "help the africans" commercials - Cause they were so sad and cruel.
Also cried when i saw homeless drug addicts.

Now i get pissed off when i see "help the africans" flash commercials everywhere on my browser, newspapers etc - I know its heartless but its an immunity and it feels great to not get affected by it.
As for homeless drug addicts too far in to get saved, they don't exist in my view - I don't even double take.

I believe immunity against certain of these sad things in life can help many.

I hate animal cruelty. I think all humans and animals should be treated equally.
In fact sometimes I feel we don't deserve to have such intelligence. And if we do these cruel acts, are we really that intelligent

In general, for animals. It even goes to movies/ "fake" tv (opposed to the animal rescue shows and what not). I can watch some dude get cut in half w/ a butter knife screaming in pain and be.. meh oh well, but hit a dog and I'm genuinely pissed off.

I'm fairly good at both empathy and pity, and I give both on a regular basis. Congratulations and good wishes, too.

I tend to give them to people far away, though. I can't stand to do it too much in person. Up close, the pain is too intense, and I block it out instinctively.

Oh, yes. Frequently. I'm a bleeding heart. I care pretty deeply about a lot of things, probably way too much if I'm honest with myself.

Come to think of it, that Irish girl who was murdered in Mauritius on her honeymoon last week. Three guys were trying to burgle her room and strangled her when she walked in on them. She never even saw the photos of her wedding. Both she and her husband deserve sympathy, not that it'll do them much good now. Once again, I'd love to drive an ice pick through the ear of the guy that killed her.

Every I walk past someone on the street holding out a cup for money.
Those Trocaire ads that show loads of pictures of poverty-stricken Africans.
I constantly feel sorry for people and animals. I'm a very empathetic person.

One time I accidentally stepped on a frog and killed it. I stood by its.. it.. and apologized and mourned it, I felt it was the only thing I could do. Usually I spend a great deal of effort removing insects from my room in the most kind way I can think of. I also have a lot of trouble even harming an ant.

I feel it strongly for humans as well, though it is most often activated in movies and media; I've more than a few times had tears in my eyes, and at two occasions been at the brink of crying.

I seem to feel empathy very intensely. I'm glad I do, as it is a quality I truly treasure.

I actually find it easier to feel for animals than human beings. Is that im normal?

I feel sorry about a lot of injustices. The biggest things I feel sorry for are kids, who are without homes, or lose one/both of their parents, through death/divorce etc. Or kids who never had real chances at succeeding because of their environments or disease.
