*sigh* So, I just went out and bought Borderlands because all of my friends are currently playing it, and they give me s*** when they're all on and I'm playing Final Fantasy. I pop it in and, well, let's just say I wasn't impressed and leave it at that. That game cost me almost 70 bucks. 70 bucks that I should have used to pay my cable bill down before it went over that "too much on the bill" point. So now I sit, cableless, sponging off my roommate's and work's DSL, kicking myself for buying a game when I should have paid my bills. So I ask you, Escapist crowd, what have you sacrificed before, (or regularly sacrifice), to further your gaming habit? Have you any tales of woe similar to mine? Have you ever sacrificed for your gaming habit, only to discover that the game you sacrificed for was a garbage pile? Bend my ear...

Heating.

But to be fair, that wasn't entirely for gaming. Recently moved to a new City on short notice for a job, only flat I could find in time (and on budget) seemed nice, until I signed the contract and the Landlord showed me the Energy Efficiency ratings for the Flats insulation and heating - suffice to say, they're appalling. Now I moved in over winter (coldest one for a while) and not wanting to fork out all my cash on electricity, I decided to do without heating and instead used money to keep the electricity on so my gaming set up could drain it all instead...

Who needs heating, when you've got a nice blanket and maybe some gloves...

I've never gone without anything major like food or power or heat for a game, but I have given up most of my lifetime to them. Does that count?
